I see this ran over 200mph today. Can somebody tell me what engine it is running this year?

This may be the 497cc "monster motor"  ?????? (just a guess from my failing memory  . . .)

Not bad for a tuneup, eh?

Hmm... Is the Costella-Gullett machine the 500cc streamliner that just did 230mph.
Memory is failing me but pretty certain the Costella-Rock was the needle shaped yellow streamliner that ran a Honda 250 single two stroke last year.

Just wondered how they found an extra 30mph - have they gone to a twin cylinder engine?

They have a series of engines.  Check this thread:

Mike thanks but that is the Gullett liner. Had a chat with I think it was Cliff (have his card upstairs somewhere) at the end of Speedweek last year and yes that liner was designed to take a whole series of engines.

If I am not mistaken the Rock liner is a different machine.

Back in my road racing days, when we all ran singles, the twin cylinder bikes were called "multis" . . . .

ah, fond memories . . . .

Sorry, guess I'll stick to slow four-wheelers.

The 5050 liner ran in the 250 class at Speed Week last year.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

The Costella-Gullett Liner is the Blue and White liner, only 24 inches high and 24 feet long, that was nicknamed "The Salt Snake" last year at Speed Week, when it ran with base white paint and decals only. It showed up at World Finals last year with the new paint, but the "Salt Snake" nickname remains attached to this incredible machine.
It has been designed to adapt for mutliple motors as it attempt to break 16 records enroute to becoming the worlds fastest motorcycle.

You can see more about this challenging undertaking by going to www.teambullett.com

The Costella-Gullett team would like to extend its congratulations to the 5050 Costella-Rock liner for its return run, which had speeds exceeding 200 MPH and also broke a long standing record in the 250cc gas class.

Yeah I guess your right. It was two years ago it was a 125. I was expecting big things for the lakester with the 500cc yahama V4. Hope it gets running fast. The motor looks fast enough. Jack was working on a second "Salt Snake" type of four wheeled car but with tandam wheels so that it was more like a bike. Is it there?
