Costella-Gullett Motorcycle Streamliner
« on: September 07, 2007, 11:35:50 AM »
Early this year Jack Costella and Cliff Gullett formed a partnership to develop a motorcycle streamliner that would allow for interchangeable engines. This machine would then begin an odyssey to achieve 16 world land speed records enroute to a run culminating at over 400 MPH and becoming the world's fastest motorcycle.

Jack Costella is a living legend where streamliner design is concerned and Cliff Gullett is a committed rider who had previously set 10 world land speed records on his Yamaha Road Star Warrior and on a Kawasaki Vulcan 2000. He had previously raced stock cars, so speed is a way of life for him.

On only the fifth run in the new streamliner, a world  record was set in the 350cc gas streamliner category at Speed Week. The SCTA record, which was set in 1971 was 180.814 and the Costella-Gullett streamliner ran a 192.408 for the new record.
That record was backed up at B.U.B. with an AMA record in the same category.

Attached will be some of the original build photo's for you to review, as well as a number of photos of tech inspection at Speed Week, some running shots of the liner and more. Hope you enjoy the photos, and that you will follow this Quest for Speed on the Race website at www.teambullett.com and support the effort to become the world's fastest motorcycle.

Hello KIRIAKAI,
I am really impressed with this machine. I cant believe that it can run at all with such minimal ground clearance.
But it obviously works well.
I have some questions. What is the front wheel made of. It looks like solid rubber? where do I get one?
Does the bike have front or rear suspension?
And when are you coming to Lake Gairdner in South Australia :-)
Best of Luck with your future runs

The White Body on the streamliner was dubbed "The Salt Snake" during Speed Week and Bub...., you have seen those pictures. When the Bike came back and preparation began for World Finals, Cliff had the Bike painted....
attached are some work photos of the body in paint byTy and Erika Konitz....
They spent days sanding, edging, taping and then painting and drying....
I am sure you can agree that they did a fabulous job....
The color serves to accentuate the true dimensions of the bike......
Twenty-three (23) feet long, Twenty-three(23) inches wide, and Twenty-three (23) inches high.....

Cliff has returned from Japan where he presented a picture of the liner, with a great "Chute Shot" to Yamaha Motor Ltd. President Takashi Kajikawa...
Cliff will now begin preparing the 500, 650 and 750 cc motors he  and Jack Costella will run to attempt to set six new records next year in the motorcycle streamliner gas and fuel categories.
Attached are some photos from World Finals and the Team Bullett Logo as it appeared on the liner when it was white.....and a picture of Cliff sporting his new 200 MPH club hat and t-shirt.
