New Salt Report from today! !
« on: August 01, 2008, 07:10:08 PM »
From the SCTA site.

        08/01/08:  Salt Up Date

This just in from Larry Volk (Our very reliable source) :
Today, Thursday he took a trip out onto the salt. He reports the salt to be dry,
hard and mostly smooth. The water that hit during our last trip in mid July is gone
and additional dragging will be needed to fine tune our courses prior to SpeedWeek.
Larry drove out to the 8 mile and reports that the courses look good for their
entire length, that's all three courses, one long and two short. The water that
stood on the salt for the past week or so has improved conditions over and above
what they were during mid July before the storm hit us while we were there working.
There were two film companies on the salt shooting commercials today. Our work force
will arrive, in mass, a week before SpeedWeek and begin the final touches to not
only our race courses but all the other things necessary to stage your event. On
behalf of the entire SCTA and BNI Board, we look forward to seeing you all at "The
Greatest land Speed Event Of The Year", SpeedWeek 08.  Mike Waters Chairman BNI

Hey SSS, you've started a whole new meaning for the word "truckstop". First thing you know it'll be in the dictionary and everyone will be using it! :-D

You'll have to get Jon to do that. He explained it all under another subject and I'm sure I'd never be able to find it again.

I recently responded to a Pork Pie post and used a common swear word -- and the machine deleted it and inserted "truckstop".

So Jon said something like "D-a-m-n, looks like I really will have to get to work on the bike."

(Yes, that word gets you "truckstop")

Nice to see land speed racing using the latest in computerized technology.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

I found out the hard way.  I was going over a post and noticed the word truckstop in one of my post, and I thought to myself I never use that in a sentence.  Then I wondered onto one of Johns posts that explained that when ever a cuss word is used it is automatically replaced by the word "truckstop".  Needless to say I have a few of those. :-D

Bret, it's great to see you on here.

Back in 1992, we spoke in the pits at Charlotte Motor Speedway. I told you that you were one of the world's great moto-journalists, second only to Dave Despain.

Welcome aboard, you truckstoppin' truckstopper!
