North American Eagle

If any of you racers are old enough to belong to AARP, I see in the latest AARP paper that the North American Eagle is going to run at black rock sometime this month.

They are already there, either last week or this week for testing on Black Rock.

Ok gentlemen, step up to the plate.

How fast do you think they will go? I understand it's testing, not trying for a record.

I'm guessing 225 mph.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

i think it has a lot more potental than that... i think deep into the 3's should be a good shake down. I'm not sure on the project time line but if they had a good test (no brakage and good speed) they can spend the tail end of the calindar year chasing down next years dough... definately a big good luck and go get em to the team........

Today is the 10th anniversary of Andy Green's sound barrier record - some people are out in Gerlach to have a small celebration. Tomorrow the NAE will start with test runs on the playa. The goal is going into the range of around 500 mph....as I understand they will run this time with solid wheels.

Spot on Pork Pie. Planned in advance to coincide with the SSC team members celebrations but more importantly as the next stage of their testing. All being filmed of course so it should be on Discovery sometime. BBC reshowing The Mission - Supersonic Dreams this Thursday. And if  you can get it outside the UK, this month's Motor Sport mag has a rather good 7 page interview with Andy.

ps just read the Hot Rod Goldenrod article. As mentioned in another post, what an appalling error by them.

To Robin in the U.K.
Finally someone else found the error in Hot Rod's story about Goldenrod I wrote about. I knew the next person to find it would be from the United Kingdom. Guys who will be the first to let us know what it is, Jack D. did you spot it?

It's time for another trivia contest.
I'll take care of reading it to Kent.
I kinda feel responsible for him. >LOL

Robin's read of the story still doesn't compromise the trivia contest.
He doesn't let the cat out of the bag, but just shakes it a bit.
A common mistake.

Anybody seen this? Sonic Arrow was also at Black Rock for the SSC 10th anniversary as a tribute to Steve Fossett.
