They're all looking good now Jon. The way Ray posts where you click on the picture to get a larger one seems to work really well. I'm not sure how he's doing it.

Pete

Just an FYI while I'm sitting in the Burb with the heater on, listening to the drivers meeting:  There are 2 ways to include images with a post to the forum.  First way is to put the image on an external server and link to it...like this shot of the sunrise:

The advantage of this is that yo can put the shots inline with the commentary and there's no limit (that I know of) to the number that can be added.  The down side is that the whole image is displayed every time the page is viewed and for someone like me who's on a slow connection (thru my Android cell phone) it takes a REAL long time to get 'em displayed on the screen.

The other way to include an image is the way I usually do it, and that's to make it an attachment.  That way the image shows up as a thumbnail that you can click on to view.  The thumbnails load much quicker, especially over a slow connection.  The disadvantage is that they appear at the end of the post and you have to add any commentary above 'em...and as happened with one I did yesterday, they sometimes get the order scrambled.  Here's one of the drivers meeting that I shot a few minutes ago.

Hope that explains things a little bit.

First things first:  At the drivers meeting just now it was mentioned that drivers that qualify should NOT START DRINKING immediately -- because it may, thanks to poor weather, come to pass that we'll have to run return runs the same day as the qualifier.  Seriously -- the weather is pretty funky-looking.  Glen just announced that the wind is trending down - but it's still too windy to run.  Here are a few shots of the skies.

Now that I've said that, I'll also mentioned that if you're listening on the streaming part of the site -- the radio announcing here will be not only on CB but also on the 88.7FM.  That's going to take some getting used to -- 'cause when Glen needs to shout to a crew truck we'll all hear it on the FM, too.  Just enjoy hearing some of the stuff that you've not heard in a long time -- or at all.

We're on wind hold -- wind at 12 mph now so slower vehicles may run although 'liners and such won't.  Here's a link to NOAA weather:  http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Wendover&state=UT&site=SLC&lat=40.8494&lon=-114.024

While we're in a wind hold, I'm gonna post a few shots from yesterday.

First, a Chevette (?!?!) with an Ecotec motor sporting a couple DCOE Weber carbs,

Wally Kohler's very different take on a rear-engined motorcycle

and its high-zoot kustom upholstery made from old event t-shirts.  I love it!

Chris, are your ears aching from the audio?  Seems a little scratchy, so I switched to the aging Nakamichi in the back if the rig to see if it will filter it out.  Still having some distinctive background buzz, but overall, glad to have it working.

(Milwaukee Midget is in the audio trades, he's our tuning fork, Thnx Chris).

Hey! even though I'm a car guy, I liked the idea of that rear engine bike, will it handle better at high speed because of the engine location??? Thanks for the photos

Limited speakers here at work but audio is lacking bass. But, the sound level is better than the last event! Thanks Mox

Well, whaddaya think of that?  We're running -- wind and all.  Glen just told us (I was doing porta-potty duty and didn't catch details) of a car (I think it was C/PS) running about 210 in the middle mile.  Tower now says we'll run one bike to see what that rider says.  No run yet -- raining more now.

It's raining now -- not just misty driplets.  The tower says there's nobody in line to run.  The wind has died down a bit -- but the radar shows rain south of the interstate, too, heading this way.  We wait. . .

The fork, you say?  :|

The Nakamichi?  :?

I wish I had a reference from other webcasts to gain some sort of perspective as to how much degradation is due to the internet.

The show is on - we're good out here.

Chris, I had noticable buzz from the car FM radio, brought along a stereo receiver to run off the generator.  Don't have the mixing board in line.  Piddling with the audio mixing software on a laptop.  And wandering around with a laptop w/ headphones to monitor the webcast.

Rain, rain, go away . . . .

Some great cars and bikes here.

No news from the rainy salt flats.  One car just went down the course -- at a soggy 50 mph.  No explanation if it was a "real" run or just someone goofing around.  It's raining, 54F, and stiff cross winds.  Stay tuned -- we're still out here.
