Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

The bitter irony of it all is that at these temperatures, it's got to be a big help in the HP department.

Well, I guess we're making a LOT of progress . . .

Confusion reigns (rains.)  Pork Pie is sitting here and sez "we're all nuts!"

It's raining like hell and a although there's been a few radio transmissions saying "we're shut down" and then a coupla cars ran...I have no idea what's happening except that we have a press club meeting here...me, PP and Dan Kaplan are all discussing the relative merits of Nikons vs Canon cameras.

Here are a coupla photos:

The rain running down my windshield

and the #28 roadster with Lee Kennedy following him in the truck with his lightbar flashing.  Glen Barrett reported that his mile speed was just over 50 mph.

Hey! even though I'm a car guy, I liked the idea of that rear engine bike, will it handle better at high speed because of the engine location??? Thanks for the photos

I've been trying to post this for 45 minutes...so here goes again.

It ain't gettin any better at all.  Weather Underground (wunderground.com) sez it's "overcast" (see animated file.)

Next shot is the long course starting line,

then the Old Crow lakester,

and a shot Pork Pie did of it without the port-a-potties in the background (I wasn't gonna get outta the Burb...it's wet and windy and cold...)

The fastest car of the meet was a sedan?

Probably was the yellow Mitsubishi G/PS 4-door.  I think he ran first before the rain started in earnest...then there were a coupla roadsters.  After that, it was as one guy suggested to me: odds-on favorite for top speed of the meet would be Miss Budweiser.  :)
