Test & Tune 2022
« on: April 20, 2022, 09:51:29 AM »
We currently have just over 40 entries for the July Test & Tune.  We need somewhere between 15 and 20 additional entries to make this happen. If any of you have been waiting until the last minute, we are fast approaching that time.
We have been checking the camera on the salt and can see pressure ridges starting to form, (that is a good sign).
Let us know if you have not already registered. This will be a good start to the racing season.

I figured at the start that it might be a bit of a stretch to find 60 entrants for the TnT & thought 40-ish was a more likely number but if we get close but not close enough, how do other entrants feel about making up the extra money to make it happen?
In this day & age it's only about the cost of filling up your tank per entrant!
I'm a broke-a$$ poor-boy but I'd put in another cuppla hundred bucks!

I might have one day to attend Test and Tune as a spectator. I would love to show my wife what it is all about. I'm a USFRA member so can my wife and I come take a look. Will race in September. I would come only on the 10th. Will there still be a bunch of racers like Target 550 still there or do you think everyone will be packing up and leaving.

You can't tell what happens when someone doesn't perform as well as they wished, or broke.  Most pack up and go home.  There's no telling the numbers.

We had our monthly club meeting last night. We are happy to announce that the  July Test and Tune is officially on. Inspections will start on the 7th. Racing will begin the 8th and run through the 10th. Depending on how many vehicles are still making runs, we anticipate that we will stop running mid-day on the 10th.

It will be layed out as the standard 5 mile course. The pits will however be set up very close to the starting line. No record runs will be made, but there will be licensing runs as well as qualifying for the long course. We are trying to do this in a way to save money, so as a result, there will be no fuel available on the salt. No food vendors, or AM radio broadcast.
We will have security, ambulance, fire, Honey Buckets, garbage dumpster and a painted line down the center of the course.
We will send out more information as we get closer to the date as well as updates on salt conditions.

The track generally lies between the cones and includes blue side lines.

We just want to let everyone know that the Test & Tune is a go. As always we will have to see what Mother Nature has to say about it. We will be on the salt on Thursday July 7th for inspections and will start racing on Friday the 8th and run through Sunday the 10th.
See you there.

The SCTA-BNI Facebook page states that they've been out on the Salt for the last two days getting ready for Speedweek, and that "It truly is like a freeway."   Hopefully that will hold for a couple more weeks so we can get in a great Test & Tune!  See you there!

Dennis and I just got back from a visit to the salt this morning. The BNI folks have been doing some dragging and the salt looks good. The dry conditions seem to have helped and it is hard and pretty smooth.
Jason and I will be going back out next weekend to do additional course prep for the T&T. I will post another update next weekend.
Be safe and have a great July 4th holiday.

Hey Monte.... What do you think about a curved line from center line to middle of exit roads?

I have thought about that since last year. I will give that a try. For the T&T we will just spray a center line only on the course and there will be fewer turnouts. We are trying to keep the costs down to a minimum, so I think this will be a good way to try a new curved line from the center of the course to the turnout.
