Girls can do that ?
« on: May 27, 2011, 10:33:19 AM »
Brother Lou's latest Bonneville Story on you tube -  Yes indeed !  Woman racers like to go fast too.  Check it out -

In 2009, Erin Hunter was one of three women in America nominated for the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Female Rider of the Year.

Also in 2009, Erin had the honor of sharing her racing story as a keynote speaker at the AMA's Women in Motorcycling event in Keystone, Colorado.

Erin is most proud, however, of her work as an ambassador for the sport of Land Speed Racing, and in particular her role in encouraging women to discover the sport. Erin is the founder of the sheEmoto Award which she bestows on the female LSR racer who best embodies what it means to participate.

"I am grateful to have accomplished a lot in my life, and I owe this success to people who never said 'girls don't do that, but instead said 'go for it ! "

Nancy and I had the fun of crewing for Erin and Andy Sills, her chaperone () last year at WoS, and pitting with them at WF.  We spent many fun hours together.  And Erin was even kind enough to offer Nancy and me runs down the long course on her GSXR1000 (we didn't have race bikes with us and were suffering).

Good story about Erin.

Most excellent cheeto racer !   I'd love to see some pictures of your 64 Fairlane, and hear more of your Bonneville Story.  What got you started ?
Glad you enjoyed the clip.  You should contact brother lou with your Bonneville story.  The fact that there are more and more women now actively progressing in the sport is absolutely most inspiring.  I love it !
I sincerely hope you achieve your goal.

It all started with a trip in 2005 to crew for a friend of ours who drives the 749 studebaker... that was it SALT FEVER.. in 2006 my husband drove another friend of ours Ford Lighting Truck... In 2007 we had an oppurtunity to purchase the Fairlane It was just a shell of a car, but that soon changed . From the begining we knew that we would both be driving.  it was on!!!!. He he even held the record in our class AA/CGC for 5 days ... whoopeee!!.Since that time we have shared driving the car each event. Can't wait to see you all on the salt this year!!!!
