I can't really tell because of that white stuff, whatever it is, but it looks like an illegal air dam to me.

I would be shocked if that thing could plow the "global warming" off my windshield :-).  My Ozark mountain snow / ice is a little different than some places though.

A quick look tells me that the photo was taken in Michigan.  The state flag flying next to the Stars and Stripes sure looks like ours -- but I can't be sure.  Still -- yah, it's something we'd do.  But it isn't me.

There was one of those at El Mirage a couple years ago. The side car also had a driven wheel. It was pretty cool looking unit.

A few years ago while I was sighting in a few rifles and practicing a bit at our gun range a dude rides in on a olive green Ural with a side car, in the side car was his son, two rifles and some ammo.

I thought it was cool,, he told me the engine was low on power and anything over 65 was a "thrill ride".

For a brief second,, I thought about getting one, painting camo and installing gun racks,,, then I came to my senses,,,

I decided to stick with my HD Road King.....

I had to enlargen the pic to see the State flag. Then I noticed the 3 bikes in the door-way. Definitely Michigan.

It is. It is made in Russia, has been for about 30 years. It is made by Ural.

As I understand it, at the end of WW2, the russians dismanteled the BMW factory, buildings , machines and all. They moved the whole lot to Russia and have been essentially making a 1944 BMW ever since. They made a few changes when they decided to import them here but I believe you can buy a brand new one for about $10K.

Peter Egan, columnist in Cycle World (and other magazines) rode a Ural outfit and wrote a story about it (sometime during the recent past).  Good information about the bike as it's built today.  I still don't plan to buy one.
