Joe Amo goes 254.8mph in the mile
« on: September 19, 2009, 01:05:18 PM »
This morning Joe averaged 254.8mph over his last mile despite having to let off
the throttle just after the  4 1/2.  Combined with yesterday's run he set
a new record of 251.7mph on his  1000cc Kawasaki.
Congratulations Joe!

Congrats to Joe! Anyone know why he had to let off of the throttle at the 1/2 mile?

According to Joe (and Pork Pie, our resident aero guy) -- the shape of Joe's bike's body is so close to perfect -- that there's now significant upward "suction".  Joe was being lifted out of his tuck and decided to shut it off before he got sucked off the bike.

He will be working on how to reduce the effect, I assure you.  Maybe some velcro on his tummy?

By the way, Joe is quite excited about that run.

When you click on REPLY, the page that opens has those symbols. I think that the 7th symbol from the left has that moving arrow with the letter M.  B U etc......

Click on that and see what happens.
