1212 appears to hold one record at bonneville which is 279mph in f/bgs. Very impressive...until you look below and see a smaller engined liner record that is 352mph

records are easy to break until you actually try.

if it was easy even you would hold a record.

hell, even ba57, pap and jeff gordon would!

maybe you, too!

T-bird,

I for one enjoy your posts and a little of the history even if it's cut and pasted.

Your post seem to attract many different forms of critisism from the peanut gallery and various internet Trolls.

Often you must consider the source of the critiqing.

Your biggest critic looks to be 1212.

I did a little looking on the scta web site and.....

1212 appears to hold one record at bonneville which is 279mph in f/bgs. Very impressive...until you look below and see a smaller engined liner record that is 352mph

1212's might be remembered in history  as the rider of the  :-o"Worlds Fastest Vibrator" :-o the 125mph electric cycle!

I'm new here and i enjoy reading about some of the history but it seems as though many are allergic to change or new ideas. speeds will plateau and the thinkers will be ridiculed so much for innovation and thinking outside of the box!

Flame on !!!

Lakesterguy

Thank You!

This I appreciate so very much, I know there are many like you that enjoy what I post. Its sad we have one's that attack them it takes the enjoyment away from others interested in them. The past history and todays new generation each historic thread or new challenger its amazing I enjoy it as you thank you

I have other ALSR threads that may be of interest if you haven't seen them the Blue Flame, Bloodhound, Aussie Invader, American Eagle. There history and new projects are amazing

Didn't Fred Lorenzen set some endurance records in a Holman-Moody Skyliner, or was that the '62 Fastback Galaxy?

Before we get yet another "flame" war going, please, Mr. Lakester guy, don't attempt to start that stuff.  It'll appear all by itself without your invitation to one and all.  If you've got something to say about 1212's stuff -- say it directly to him, okay?
Just because there have been "flamers" on this site -- I don't like making it a habitual thing.

Thanks.

PS  If I remember correctly, George Poteet's Camel Toe car ran through the cotton at Maxton a year or two ago.  Got squirrely in the first half-mile and veered right into the cotton field.  That was the last run for the car there.

Didn't see it on the site, but it was a '62 he took to Bonneville - the infamous fastback on the convertible chassis - precursor to the aero-wars.  5 mile circle track, set some enduro records.
Those early '60's Galaxies were pretty tough.

The car shown in the first post in this thread is a '61 Ford Starliner. It's always been my most favorite of all car shapes -- so I've lovingly studied it in person.  My mom had a '61 Ford Sunliner -- the convertible - and I told Mom and Dad repeatedly that they should have forsaken the convertible for the Starliner.  Hunh -- I guess the advice their 13-year-old son gave them wasn't taken to heart.

sorry slim... i have this stupid assumption that if someone says disparraging things about me or my friends on a public forum i have an obligation to respond to them... i don't hide behind a screen name and all my contact stuff is to the right of my posts...... on another note i drove through some pretty good snow stuff on my last trip to the collage in Utah Thursday and Friday...made me think of you and your plow...

Fred Lorenzen won the'62 Daytona 500 in a H&M 62 galaxy with a 61 Starliner top. The car was outlawed after Daytona.

The H&M car was really neat. I was touring their facility in '63 and saw the car sitting in the weeds, asked if I could buy it, they said it belonged to Ford. I think it eventually got cut up, not sure.
