I just finished painting a "Save the Salt" plaque.............

.......... I got this past year and that got me to thinking that there are a lot of new people on here and maybe some are not familiar with the "Save the Salt" program.

If not please take the time to check it out.....

That looks great Sum, all you need is a company that makes novelty license plates to make a bunch and then sell them to help the salt.

that is my shillings worth anyway!

Did I miss a post - about Bo Burkdoll's Save the Salt plaques?  He's been soliciting scrap aluminum on this site so he and a buddy can cast some S t S plaques -- but I haven't seen one of 'em to comment on their appearance.  Maybe he'll see this post and show us -- or maybe he's already done it and I missed his.

Anyway -- contact Bo at yaboracer@msn.com and ask about his stuff -- if you're interested.

Turns out the scrap cans don't cast well (need a way to get rid of the paint and impurities) so they are looking for aluminum scrap in larger chunks to continue the project.  Last I knew Cris Shearer had some of the plaques but I don't know if they were originally from Bo.

I remember  Bo's comments about the poor results from cans -- but I thought I'd seen that he'd got some big aluminum parts -- maybe they were heads or wheels or something substantial.  Whatever, he hasn't been active here for a while -- so maybe he's out working the bellows on the furnace.

I know you guys are mostly in California or within a days drive so it's not so easy to get aluminum
from Tacoma Metals but they have big blanks of the stuff one can probably get for cost. The last
time I bought some bigger (heavy) pieces, they charged me $1.00 a pound.......Steve Green (Original Fast Guys from Canada) is in tight with the owner............Ed
