Big and Little(?) Stainless

You people deserve the Red Hats as much as anyone.
You race hard and yet find the time to share your wealth with strangers.

Great light on that foto.

Greg Samson got up to 202.505 in the 1034 Sam Sampson Coupe. That's nowhere near a record but it was a personal goal of Sam's before he died. He didn't achieve that goal but now his son has become the 2nd member of Sam's 200 Club.
I had a great time on the salt, as usual, and got the coupe up to 170 mph.
Congratulations to Deb and Todd, I hope you caught salt fever.
See you in Maxton in October.

Glen, I wanted to compliment you on another wonderfull job. I had the opportunity to visit the tower briefly and saw all the stuff you had to contend with to cover three courses. Thank you for your dedication. And thanks to all the other volunteers to make it all happen.

Rob,

My most memorable part of speedweek 08 was listening to your return run speeds laying in the back of the motorhome at the truckstop.

Your Dads voice on the cb sent chills up my spine.

Congrats to you and your whole crew on a well earned  redhat.

First thanks to all the volunteers and Save The Salt for giving me a chance to run.  First run Monday it started to lose RPM at the 4 mile. Shut it down, turned out at 5.5, heard bad noises, coasted to a stop on the return road, everything looks, good car would not roll.  Pulled spur gear out of the quick change and the car would move and load. I ran my best MPH in the second mile at 203.8. Pulled out the Muncie and pulled it apart and found the First gear cluster welded to the main shaft. Borrowed a Makita 4" grinder and ground all the teeth off of first gear. The push truck took the place of first gear and ran the Muncie as a 3 speed to a best ever of 206.8. The next day I ran 202 into an 8 mph headwind and it looks like I have a lifter or cam lobe going away so we called it a week.  Thanks Dad, Cliff, Fred, Eric, and Bob and Jeff from South Dakota. See you all in October. Vince

Great meeting you and your dad and my compliments on a fine build (the car's, not yours).  The driver seems reluctant to get in, though.

This year it was parts not records that got broken. 236 is the record, ran 218 in the quarter, valves and pistons got closely aquainted, game over. Let the rebuild begin. Donations welcome, ha ha this racing is fun
Records or parts, I didn't come all this way not to break something.

Al Teague shook my hand and said good luck, Glen Barrett read my speed times. I couldnt ask for anything more for my first time driving a race car that me, my brother Ryan and dad Mike built together i am priveleged to have raced on the same salt as my heroes. Thank you to all volunteers for helping make this 60th anniversary of land speed racing amazing :)
