Better check with Denis he has told me his insurance won't allow thrust vehicles. I understand SCTA and USFRA won't let you run for the same reason, Glen B could probably tell you.  Private time is probably your only choice if you could find insurance get a BLM permit and have the money to hire FIM/AMA officials, timers, fire/rescue crew, EMT crew, prep the track, post a clean up bond etc.  I wish you luck and would love to see it run but just want you to realize you may be building a white elephant.  You have the same requirements at Black Rock.  You might be able to run in Australia but that's an even a more expensive endeavor.

Crusher

At this time do not get disheartened by the powered wheel specialists lining up the obstacles for a thrust powered outright speed attempt.

Take you insurance to Denis and he can be very accommodating ..... for the right amount of US dollars.  Tweleve or so years ago there was no class recognised around the world but eventually everyone got on board with 'thrust powered two wheelers' particularly the FIM.

Even from here in the UK it was possible to organise and run with BUB (his first event) and then run straight into private time on the BLM managed salt flats - with a permit.  I probably have the e mails still filed away thanking the team for the clean up achieved on the salt and then in the post the return of the bond.

What you are trying to do is not difficult.  Good luck wihth the weather and winds.

Mike, first, your jet bike looks pretty official.  second, I'm not Mr. Ack, I'm Max, the Vincent streamliner guy.

What you're talking about is motorcycle streamliner rules concerning parachutes.  The requirement is that the parachutes must deploy automatically in the even of a crash.  In my case, I use a homemade mercury switch.  The first switch I made was a pendulem switch, which didn't work and caused several pre-deployments of chutes.  I don't know what type of chutes you're using, but I suppose they're car type, in a pouch, and you mechanically pull the pin on the pouch, and a spring deploys the chute.  You'll have to get a couple of pull type solenoids, as you're liner will require two chutes for sure.  Two chutes are required, as certainly you'll be going over 250 mph.

I'd suggest that you tie in to that electrical circuit so that your engine is also shut off if the chutes are deployed in a roll over.  Self explanatory.  Chutes don't like fire.

One other thing.  Your bracket that the chute tethers anchor on should be adjustable up and down.  At the speeds you're anticipating this will become extremely important.  If the anchor is too low it will lift the rear wheel off the ground when deployed, if it's too high it'll lift the front wheel off the ground.  Not good either way.

Hope you go fast.  Looks like it will, but do it safely.
