National Geographic show!!
« on: May 11, 2007, 09:15:34 AM »
I hope everyone had a chance to see the 2006 National Geographic show on the SALT.  I thought it was very well done :-D :-D.  Only caught a couple of minor errors...

If you missed it I am sure it will be repeated.....

I watched it too and thought it was great. Pretty much shows the dedication of the people that race there and the people from the SCTA that make it happen. Great show.

I was pretty impressed with the show. Surprised that Nat Geo didn't try to blame the racers for adding to the greenhouse problem, or the deterioration of the salt. They could have spent a little more time on Hoolys Stude though :-D not just a glimpse of it. My wife even watched it, but kept asking when the penguins were going to show up...

I never met Dr Mayfield but I knew the name sounded familiar.....I remembered that there is a link on Sums site to the "Cd and required HP to achieve a desired speed"
( http://www.mayfco.com/dragcoef.htm )was done by a guy that was all about the Sunbeam Tiger....

It clicked when I seen the show.

"...when I tell people I had seen the show after I saw it..."

Well, yes and no, Dan.  You could have been ever more correct if you had phrased your query like this:

"...when I told people I had seen the show...", thus making the verbs agree in tense.  You could also have said:

"...when I tell people I have seen the show...", once again making the verb tenses agree.

So, anyway, didja see the show, or are you just telling people that you saw it?  I didn't see it.

Don't get me started on "me and bob..." and complementary vs complimentary.  I'll leave that to the comma man.  I did study the book "English as she are wrote".

Unh, Bob, I'll bring a copy of the Yellow Pages for you.  It should be "Testament".

Okay, folks, back on your heads now.  Coffee break is over.

I am glad everyone enjoyed the show and good to see that we were successful in capturing the spirit.  It would be great if you get a chance to post your comments to National Geographic Channel's blog for the show.  http://ngcblog.nationalgeographic.com/ngcblog/2007/05/salt_fever.html .   With a enough interest and inquiries it'll convince them to put to DVD and also help sway them to do some more programming on Land Speed racing.   We do have two more shows coming up that we shot out on the salts last year.   Need for Speed-Cars follows the JCB run to 350 in a lot more detail than the Speedweek show and Need for Speed-Bikes follows the face off between Ack Attack and Denis Manning at the Bub World Speed Trials.  I don't have airdates for them yet but I will be sure to post them on the forum as soon as they are announced.

Thanks,
