Flowers for the old fart....Glen...
« on: April 04, 2007, 12:12:24 PM »
Last night on chat Glen told us he was going in for triple by-pass surgery today.  It sound as if he has not had a major problem, but this was preventative.

I'm going to send the old fart some flowers this coming Monday.  He seems to be a flower type guy .

If you want to chip in a few bucks and have your name on the card PM me with the amount you are sending to me and let me know what name you want on the card (real name, your name here, etc.).

I'll take names up to Sunday and then will have the flowers go to him on Monday, so if you want to do this PM me soon.

I'll pay the bill and you can send your pledge to me at:

Sumner Patterson
790 S. Main
Blanding, UT 84511

Freud, Glen said that you would up-date us to how things are going with him and maybe you could let me know where the flowers should go.  I have his home address.

Let's all be pulling for him today!!

c ya,

Sum

P.S. Jon could you put a "sticky" on this for a couple days, so it stays near the top??

All the best for your surgery Glen. Just like changing an oil pump in the pits so you can run more nitro.  :-D  May your recovery be as fast as the cars you have timed.    Larry

We lost the updates regarding Glen in the hospital. He's home now.
He didn't have a computer in the hospital but is back online.
Send him a PM or just shoot holes in him here on this thread
so everyone can read his reply.

Yes, welcome home Glen!
We're both very relieved(to say the least), and look forward to comparing scars someday.

Did you guys think he wanted flowers ?
You can't eat flowers.
He wants something good and made with flour like SOS or Pizza.
I know I did.
Sami rather enjoyed the home delivery and the take out.
Sometimes she also wished they would take me out or deliver me to somebody else.
But once I learned her new house rules, things were better.
Glen will need some time to adjust but will never admit it.

I agree WHOLEheartedly Jack. Doctor said "anything he wants" after the surgery... kinda wish I would of thought of SOS as it would of been easier then that pie at the time.
The nurse in ER let Deb get me a Kit-Kat bar from the hallway machine within minutes after eating four nitro pills, having a nitro patch applied and them finally putting in the nitro drip to relieve my heart failure symptoms.
But the best was seeing the nurses' (overly round)faces on the cardio floor after the surgery when Debbie brought in a loaded 18" pizza(they took it much better once they figured I could only eat a couple pieces and I was going to give the leftovers to them).

Glen, I had a triple and understand you had seven bypasses done :-o ... where did all the grafts come from for this?

My surgeon told me to "Recover slowly... trying to be tougher then nails is what got you here." Words to live by,
Todd

Shhhhhh, We don't talk about mowing the lawn.
Todd and Glenn mustabin first timers.
The nitro was for them because your monitor kept ringing the bell at the nurses station during the important Soap Operas.
The Kit Kat bar was to shut you up.
The whole floor chipped in and you should ask Deb what she did with the other $37.
Rather than wait around to see how much emergncy pizza I was going to eat, my nurses speant the time giving me stuff to make me sleep and then just took it all.
When I woke up , they had me convinced it was all a dream.

My cardiologist made Deb and I fully aware of the national (if not worldwide) understanding across the medical field concerning lawn mowing specifically (it was at the top of the list).  And (like the many other comparable life threatening chores on the list), that it can be resumed by the patient just as soon as all of the scars from the surgery have completely disappeared.

Damn, I knew (like all the other women in the world), that those nurses were just using me Jack!
