For a special construction bike who gets pictures
« on: March 07, 2007, 10:49:18 PM »
I see where it is recommended to send pics of any special construction MCs being done for approval. I would like to run at Bonneville and BUBs So do I need to contact multiple people. i am working on that old drag bike frame for an APS/BG 1000cc bike.
I am planning on reinforcing the frame but figure if i send the early pictures I will have a better understanding of what the inspectors would like to see. I need to place components and don't want to put something where i will end up adding bracing.

Chief Motorcycle Inspector     Tom Evans     MrRodan@budweiser.com
Since he can't see it in person, send a bunch of pictures so he can get a good idea. That doesn't mean it will pass inspection when you get there, but it gives you a head start. Tom's a nice guy and has pretty much seen everything.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

Drew Gatewood is the guy that you need to contact for Bub's/FIM:  drewsmcserv@verizon.net

He runs a one-man bike shop not too far from Chicago, I hear, and his replies are sometimes today, sometimes next weekend, so get your questions to him early.  www.drewsmotorcycleservice.com, in Chesterton, Indiana -- look at his site and maybe you can find a phone number to call him and talk.

Tom Evans is the SCTA bike guy.

suspension looks a little tight in the rear, great header.
Sorry, from the user name I had you pictured building something with 2 cylinders, looks like a really nice piece.

I looked at the photos again.  Yea, I did wonder about the rear suspension having enough travel...

And did you notice, in the first photo, the header for the straight-16 motor?  It's on the floor under the engine.

Jon, the headers are on the Dodge Ram / Cummins twin 6  truck behind the bike, work just like  Jacobs brakes except takes a lot of HP to go fwd but really stops good.
