'Silent Steamer' or 'Vaporizer'?
« on: May 13, 2024, 04:37:12 PM »
Anybody know anything about this car?

As far as I can tell, it was built but never ran in anger.  Is this correct?

According to the 1984 SCTA record book, the Stanley Rocket set the record in 1906 at 127.660 mph and the Steamin' Deaon raised it to 145.607 mph in 1985. I found no runs of this car on the salt

I talked with Skip about this out of the box idea, to my knowledge, it never saw the salt...the engine was used on several dragstrip for some fun and show...more fun than speed...as it were demonstration runs...see attachment

I seem to remember (that's unusual for me) that it ran at El Mirage a couple times.

One of those "everybody stand back", whistles, steam, dust, small explosion and off like a horse leaving the gate -- tho it didn't go very fast.  Maybe this is just an old dream or something.
