Ford 8.8 gears
« on: August 13, 2022, 05:44:36 PM »
looking for a set of 2.47 gears for a 8.8" Ford. Searched Ford parts inventories, no luck. Richmond, spicer, dana, etc only go from 3.08 up. Told early to mid eighties F 150 trucks had them. Also, is their a special carrier, or spacer required like in a 12 bolt?

Ford offered the 2.47:1 ratio in the 8.8" differential in Mustangs from 86 to 90?.  The ring gears made in different thicknesses based on ratio (the carriers and specifically the ring gear flange offset are all the same).  So no spacers needed as in 10 bolt or 12 bolt GM.

I have a set I just took out of my car. I went to 2.26 Send me a PM. They bolt right onto the 8.8 carrier.
