Yep, hard to beat the simplicity of an SU carb for that application. They're a vairable CFM carb so it will never be too big, if one is too small, use two. They will also react to blower pulse if you use a two rotor blower & help reduce fuel pooling.
You should have them on old Volvo's in your neck of the wood's Mate. Early one's had a jet adjuster on the bottom.
Same goes for CD Stromberg carbs, you'll have them there too. CD-175 (1 3/4 inch) was common on Volvo's.
