After Speedweek I had a couple of things to fix. One was that the car need a source for fresh air. For some reason I thought that this was only for El Mirage. I found these from Aircraft Spruce and they do a good job.
I also had to move the fuel line and seal up some ports under the hood. I ran a tube through the car and ran a new fuel line inside of it. I also found that I could use freeze plugs to seal up the fresh air ports under the hood where the fuel cell is.
I took the heads off of another engine I have and swapped them to raise the compression from 8.7:1 up to 10.2:1. I also got a sponsor "Retro Racing" that provided 32mm venturies and 140 main jets for the carburetors. I installed a set of 1.25:1 rocker arms with new valve springs and a new merged header.
With the car back together we loaded back up and headed to World of Speed.
Tech was a breeze this time and we made it through with no issues. After waiting in line for a good 4 hours we got the first run in at 2:30pm. 110mph and off to impound for G/CGALT. The next morning we backed it up with a 115mph run and we set the record at 113.131 mph. I'm learning a lot on how the car handles and good driving techniques. Another good event.
