The most interesting man in the world.....
« on: February 23, 2013, 11:39:25 PM »
Its not this guy....:

Its this guy and I am not talking ME!:

Today Pops and had lunch with Marlo got poke around the Viking 31. It was neat to see the liner without the 100X people running around. To see it in a dead quite room was very surreal. Its funny now about 75% of my friends just dont get it.....but the ones that DO know how awesome of an experience this was for us.

Good times.

Very, very kool!  Yes, I could listen to Marlo's stories for a long, long time.  He's a genuinely good guy with all sorts of experiences and stories.

Please understand, first of all, that I, too, have boatloads of respect and admiration for Marlo in his various various guises as a racer.

But -- have the rest of you noticed that, when looked upon by members of the community in which you live or work -- that we, as Bonneville racers, are pretty much universally respected by them?  Those unwashed - the non-racers -- see us as the girls and guys that are actually living the dream that so many have -- racing at full speed at the Bonneville Salt Flats!  Scads of folks around here, for instance, treat me with a bit of awe and show interest in the smallest tidbits of racing stories -- because to them -- we are all way more interesting than the run of the mill folks that line the streets and fill the cafeterias.  We're IT - and they like to vicariously live their dreams through our personal exploits.

We're all, to someone, the most interesting man/woman in the world.  Quite a rush, isn't it?  Especially when I (or you) sum up our personal stories and realise that we, too, are just a doofus that happens to have taken that one further step beyond the regular life that most folks have.

Best wishes to Marlo for his journey - and for eventually attaining his goal.  You, too, fellow racers.

You can't hide in the shadows.

Now you are exposed.

FREUD,
Maybe better than having you overexposed again

It's a dual problem.

Overexposed and underdeveloped.
