Salt Conditions
« on: May 19, 2006, 08:06:18 PM »
The old man went out to the salt today, he as about as good as anyone on the planet at knowing the condition of the salt and how it will hold up for racing. The report is "bitchin salt conditions". He said it is dry, hard, flat, and no salt dust on top (which is a good thing, when salt dust is on top it means the salt hasn't bonded well and the track breaks up easy). Hopefully in a couple of weeks they will start prep work.

Can anyone else smell nitro right now?

Dallas
Records or parts, I didn't come all this way not to break something.

Heard last night that Waters, Wilson, Dannenfelzer and the rest of the setup crrew will be going to Wendover immediatly after the Memorial day weekend. They will begin setup, dragging and whatever else it is they do when there.

I looks very promising for this year.

DW

PS - 360 pre-entries as of 3PM yesterday. I will need a larger impound area if all goes well.

When the salt was in better shape for running and the window of suitable time longer, the USFRA hosted a meet in July.

When I first attented speed week twelve years ago, I was strolling around the pits the first and second days, and I noticed a lot of old timers who were sitting around shooting the breeze and eating fried chicken (with a few cerveza's I might add).  It didn't take too long for me to figure out what was happening here.  It reminds me of the story of the young bull and the old bull looking at all the cows in the pasture.  I won't go into that story here like Dolan would, but sufice to say, there is a moral to the story.  In all seriousness, I sure would like the BNI to hire a second ambulance (out of SLC if neccecary), to help keep the lines moving.  As I have suggested in previous posts, I think raising the entry fee by fifty bucks would more than cover the costs( 50X400=20,000 bucks).  Any one who has sat in staging for over three hours knows exactly why we need this......Bob

The information I have indicates the Salt is reserved for other applicants during the time mentioned in June.
Let's hope the uses don't conflict.

The place is 80,00 plus acres. Can't they go where Waters isn't? May be preferrable.
