I am confused again ... So that's another difference between BUB and SCTA/DLRA, mmm.....
2013 BUB/AMA Sup Regs:CHAPTER 12:
ENGINE BY CLASSIFICATIONAll classes are to use motorcycle engines. A motorcycle engine is defined as any motor that was specifically designed for use in a motorcycle.
12. A. PRODUCTION (P)
Use the same engines (gasoline only) originally installed in the specific motorcycle frame at the time of production and ensure it meets the definition set in the āPā frame class (See Chapter 4). Original equipment (OEM) shall include cylinders, cases (crankcases), heads, and carburation or throttle body (stock venturi size), kick-starter or electric starter. Displacement determines the class.
OEM displacement specifications must remain stock.GASOLINE ONLY. Fuel not permitted in this class. See Chapter 2, paragraph 2.F.
P engine class shall not run in M, MPS, A, APS or S frame classes.
DLRA 2014 Rules (Based on 2013 SCTA)7.J ENGINE CLASSES
7.J.1 Production:
Production engines shall be the same model as the model of the frame being used and shall have
STOCK EXTERNAL APPEARANCE. Production motorcycles shall use OEM cylinders, heads and
crankcases to comply with this class. OEM engine displacement determines the displacement class for competition.
Displacement may not be increased beyond that class limit. Starting mechanism shall be retained and operable. Carburetors or throttle bodies shall be OEM for that model production engine.
All production engines run in gas class. See Section 7.D.3
I got caught short with Production Rules (SCTA Based) at my first trip to DLRA Speedweek in 2010, I did not know that the allowable Exhaust Mod Rule had changed to No Mods (and then it changed back again in later years). I changed Class and ran M/G instead. So I am a bit obsessive about Rule interpretation..
So the way I read it in Prod....BUB/AMA must remain OEM capacity and SCTA/DLRA you can go out to Class capacity.
Back to my Shed.
