Studephiles 2012
« on: November 03, 2012, 09:32:57 AM »
Continuing from 2011 I am looking for info on the fastest mile speed set by a Studebaker at any of the three Bonneville events this year. I don't recall now but, I don't think I Impounded a single one.

This is for the Courtney Hizer award that one run Bob recieved last year.

Dan, I think we may have a repeat winner. I don`t recall any speeds higher than Bob`s almost-one-run at World Finals....considering his horrendous journey to Speed Week this year, it would be a nice end of year thing for him to receive...

From what I saw of his first run at WF, the push truck was luckily able to outrun him.  No clocks were involved in this testing . . .

Hey!  I missed the five mile clocks.... well, almost...............
How many of you can say you lost the clutch, hit the timers, and lost a rod slowing down.............. all on the same run?
  What a Legacy..............................................

We did a 90 MPH run with the Burke Bros. Avanti.  It was on I-40 and on the trailer at the time (David was driving).  Does that count?  We only ran like 45 at El Mirage......

Four or five years ago I was teched in by Mark Johnson (which is a long and funny story best told over cold BEER).
Anyway, Mark said his claim to fame was being the first modified roadster driver to go thru the lights at over 260 (I think) backwards which brings to light a very important question, who holds the record for the fastest timed backwards mile?  My bet is Fogie from a year or two ago.            Bob

There are some roadsters doing the lights backwards here.

I didn't make it to the lights on my pass (the red one near the beginning)

I seem to remember the Vesco streamliner going through the lights upside down and maybe backwards and getting a 300 mph time slip.
