Movie camera's at Speedweek
« on: March 27, 2012, 11:33:44 PM »
I was woundering Why I have not seen hardly anything on tv or else where about the 2011 Speedweek event.
It seemed like every time you turned around there was a camera filming the event.
Maybe I have just missed the shows.
Has anyone seen anything?

Also look at youtube and the other online venues such as Bangshift.

Thanks Tman. Here is the site with the Flower of Scotland film (I missed some how)    http://vimeo.com/32219951

Maybe others could post videos here. They would be easy to search and find.

Land speed time trials make for very POOR TV and whether you like it or not, total non-interest in the public and extremely little interest by other racing venues. A car running every 3 or 4 minutes in some unheard of class (at least understandable by anyone out side of us) is not fun or entertaining TV.

I know I'll get bad mouthed for this but would you rather watch a NASCAR race at Talledega or a 4 Cylinder stock car class at an unheard of 3/8 mile dirt track. It is what it is and there is no $$$ in it.

What about that Japanese crew that literally seemed to be EVERYWHERE.  Anyone seen anything from them?

I think they were making something for Japan TV, Prozac and the Bag Lady would know they were their mentors of sort.

I hope Prozac wasn't bringing them up to date on the latest SpeedWeek hair styles.  They might not be let back into their home country.

Thanks for the videos Tman. I hope some more will will be posted. It's a nice way to spend the evening watching Bonneville Movies. Some old video clips would be cool to.

There are lots of Bonneville videos on youtube if you do a search.  My crewman did this in 2010.  Seeing you are adding a sidecar it might be appropriate.  The first out is one of my heroes, Willie Buchta and his Harley sidecar.  Sit back and listen to him wring the neck off of it.  Fantastic sound!  I'm out last with a very long gear.

Get off the stove Grandad.  You're too old to be riding the range.
