Where's Sumner?
« on: November 10, 2011, 07:54:21 AM »
After finaly making it to Speedweek this year with my car I was lookiing forward to meeting Sumner Patterson. His web site was a great deal of help to me building my car and he was a regular contributer to this forum. When I could not find his flamed pick up or Hooleys Studebaker I stopped looking.  Are you out there Sumner? Hope that you are well and will be able to finish your lakester if you haven't already.

Sumner, is alive and well in Blanding, is in the process ???, well among other things, switching over to run a SBC in his lakester,  seems he figured out that he has lots of buddies and himself that know a thing or 2 about SBC ---and the may just have a part or two lying around  :-o

Sumners "Salt Fever" has been in remission.

The day will come when it gets active and we will once again get a

look into the life and skills of a special man.

Can't wait without getting chicken skin.

Tman - I'm guessing that one of those days would be when he gets rid of it.

Hey Sumner!!!

If you are listening, it's been 2 1/2 years since your last post.

We miss you! You add a lot to the conversation.
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

I visit with him often on the phone.  He now has two sailboats and the other day he was shopping for a third.  The larger one will stay in Florida.

I used to work with a guy who raced 26' sailboats. I asked what that was like and he replied that it takes two people to run the race. One to helm and the other to stand on the stern throwing $100 bills into the wake.

The cost soon fades from memory once a mile stone record is achieved.

Two old timer MC racers have experienced this.

But their wives never forget the cost and they have to dust the trophies.

A double pisss off.
