We put our names on a list last October at the Days Inn. He called me last night, rooms are $125 per night, 6 night min. plus a booking fee of $150. I told him he was a crook, he didn't like that.Went back to the KOA for reservation.

GH...Same thing happened to me at Days in last nite too. Eventho I have never stayed there during Speed Week (only WF) I recieved a call stating the same about a booking fee of $150. Non returnable and not used against the stay during the 6 days. I was not planning on hearing from them since they had such a long list.

I guess others have told them no too and they continued down the list getting to me. I would have liked to take the room and give it to someone here but was concerned over the $150 which would have surely come immediately off my credit card. Might have been a problem. I did inquire what day I could start and he said "any day" not like the casinos, but it had to be for a minimum of 6 days and not just Fri and Sat the 15th and 16th.............

I'm glad I was able to get "casino" rooms...Good Luck

Go figure rooms at the Days Inn are costing more than a Jacuzzi suite at one the big 4. I have never stayed at the Days Inn but doubt very much that they are anywhere near as nice as the others. Not to mention the 150 $ " Booking Fee ". I'm sure as they go down the list and go through everyone on it they will start back at the top with a " reduced Booking Fee of only 125 $ " and so on.

They might as well try to hold an Auction and charge a buyers fee.

We stayed at Days Inn last SW. $150/nite and you must sign a statement stating its non refundable, even if you leave early. Just ask Johnny Hotnuts about this "Oasis" in Bendover!.

Oh goody!

At last a forum where what I have to say might, just miiiiight, make a difference.

In a word my experience during SW a few years back at the Days Inn SUCKED.  The ONLY good thing about that "ho-tell" was the little breakfast waffle "flipper" with their free breakfast.  The desk clerk was surly.  The rooms weren't clean or cleaned.  The bed wasn't made up.  Don't recall zactly, but I don't believe we saw a maid in the place all week.  And don't recall a booking fee, but they did demand I sign a six day minimum statement, and IMMEDIATELY hit my debit card for the whole amount.

I know we are all desperate for rooms, but wouldn't it be great if once, just once, during SW, no one stayed there.

There.  I feel better now.  Think I'll see if I can make it through the day on only half my meds.

Another nicety about "The Mayor's" Days Inn is the ten day cancellation required.  All from a guy who has the balls to display LSR pictures in the hall way..........................

This is an answer I recieved by going directly to the source - the president of the SCTA. It is to be posted on the SCTA-bni.org website. I guess you just need to keep trying.

"Glad you asked,

Speedweek continues to gain popularity as a "Happening".

Regarding lodging: It is not too complicated. There ARE only so many rooms in Wendover; and there are more folks wanting rooms than rooms exist. It has been that way for the last several years.  Weekdays and Sundays have always had more rooms availlble than Fri. and Sat. By changing the start day, more folks will be there on the days that more rooms are available.

The 600 rooms the peppermill properties made available would never satitsfy 3000 people (who all called at once)  but you can bet less than 1/2 of those rooms would have been available for Friday and Saturday under the  previous inspect friday/start saturday schedule.

We stayed in the days in last year and it was filthy. The staff was rude and they let their "friends" in to use the pool. The pool had at least 5 local kids in it every day. My pops bed was broken, cig burns in the bedding and the walls were stained when a toilet upstairs leaked into the lower rooms.....nice......and for more money than the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in.

Here is what you will see from the S@#t that is Days inn.
I wish I could tell you to not stay in this hotel but desperation forces desperate measures. One day they might end up with surprise they won’t soon forget.
We feel raped by that hotel and would rather sleep in the trailer than at the days inn for principle if nothing else.

We got 4 suites at the Rainbow; they cost the same at the Days inn rooms. Don’t get me wrong if I owned a hotel in Wend I would also change more for racers and don’t mind spending more because I am involved in a specialty event ….but to take advantage of people to the extent of that days inn took advantage of us and others is unacceptable.

Also the offer is still out for someone that needs to take a shower….bring your own towels and look me up during the day, Ill give you a key as long as you don’t burn me.

Next year I might be spooning with Sum!!!!

Ok, I admit I didnt read every post, but I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling so far, so, whats the general opinion?  Is the date change going to help or not?  sounds like the same frenzy as in years past!

I just got a call from Steve at Days Inn and was told that they have rooms available and that the room rate was "reduced" from $ 150.00 per night on a 6 night stay down to $ 125.00 per day) same deal on 6 days) however the "Booking Fee" is $150.00

I told him he could keep the rooms and that gouging the racers is not cool and that was I was not interested in staying at his place...ever.    :x

In addition to the $150 non refundable/room, your card is charged June 1 for room refundable til July 1, then refundable less $300 til August 1 where becomes non refundable. ie, it rains, the car breaks, the kids all die or whatever you don't show up you have bought a room.
