I was talking with Mike Roland, the crew chief for the Kuryakyn bike that Leo Hess rides. Mike was giving me the lowdown on it, starting with a visit to the Salt last year for tech, a few tows to see if it handled, a low speed run here and licensing passes at World Finals last year -- then the weather went away.
And then this year, more of the same. So they're hoping to make a fast checkout run at this event -- and maybe that run will be fast enough to necessitate a quick turnaround and return run. The bike's all ready to run -- just pour in the fuel, strap in the rider, and go. Someplace in here I've got a photo of the ihnside of their trailer -- barrels of nitro and methanol.
Just heard the notice -- it's about 10 'til 2 and the Buckeye Bullet will be readying for a run in less than an hour. Safety workers are released to go get a bite of lunchor use the head.
Speed Demon is back in the pits for a photo opportunity. I'll take photos, you folks hang tough while we're gone. Back soon.
