I just returned from Santa Barbara, CA. I attended the only reunion of the staff of the late Cycle Magazine, published by Ziff Davis. My first link to the magazine was the December 1969 cover foto of the three Harleys riden by Warner Reilly, Leo Paine and Cook Neilson. Neilson was made the editor the month after that issue. During his stint as editor he and Phil Schilling built the Ducati bike that won the Daytona Super Bike race in 1979. NCR built a 2007 version of the '79 Bike, Old Blue. Since Schilling couldn't go to the bike, NCR shipped the bike to Santa Barbara and it was the center piece of the Reunion. The next issue of Cycle World will have it on the cover. Limited edition and beyond the limit of most everyone's Visa Card. It is spectacular.
There were over 25 people from the staff of the magazine in attendance including Neilson and his entire original staff. Cycle raised the bar in motorcycle journalism and many peopel have sincerely missed it.
