I just returned from Santa Barbara, CA. I attended the only reunion of the staff of the late Cycle Magazine, published by Ziff Davis. My first link to the magazine was the December 1969 cover foto of the three Harleys riden by Warner Reilly, Leo Paine and Cook Neilson. Neilson was made the editor the month after that issue. During his stint as editor he and Phil Schilling built the Ducati bike that won the Daytona Super Bike race in 1979. NCR built a 2007 version of the '79 Bike, Old Blue. Since Schilling couldn't go to the bike, NCR shipped the bike to Santa Barbara and it was the center piece of the Reunion. The next issue of Cycle World will have it on the cover. Limited edition and beyond the limit of most everyone's Visa Card. It is spectacular.
There were over 25 people from the staff of the magazine in attendance including Neilson and his entire original staff. Cycle raised the bar in motorcycle journalism and many peopel have sincerely missed it.

I forgot to mention. The youngest person to ever get in the 2 Club, Jess Thomas, also attended. He was an Associate Editor and a rapid road racer for years. He rode Jack Wilson's Triumph 'liner over 214 MPH and was not only the youngest to gain entry but probably also had the narrowest amount of increase in a record. Like .001 MPH......

I haven't even downloaded the 300 images yet. I'll be on that tonight.
I had a screwup in my airline reservations and didnt get home until
late Monday. Then I had to assist my wife with our obligations to her
96 YO Mom. Today was been a blur but I'll post soon.

Try this link. The bike in that story is the one we had in Santa Barbara.

If the link doesn't open for you, Google New Blue motorcycle.
That bike was ridden into John Stein's living room under power and the throttle bliped.
There is a sensational smell from the exhaust of a $50,000 racing bike in a living room.
I promise. More soon.

I'm in San Diego tonight. I will be back home Sunday evening and will try to post images on Monday. I was told that the issue of CYCLE WORLD is now on the newsstand with a 9 page story about the bike and the cover is devoted to New Blue.
It's a marvelously crafted piece but is no way streetable. The paint was done in the shop that paints the Ferrari F1 cars and the seat, that is now available in black leather as an option, was done by the company that does the Ferrari F1 seats. Everything about it is first class.

When I checked the news stand today the isssue did not have New Blue.
The issue we had had been Blue Labeled to us so it is probably next
months issue.
Sorry I lost my head.

Ferd, the Cycle World that was in P O Box 1054, Marquette, the other day does have the story on New Blue. Maybe you've managed to hang on to some remnants of sanity.

Starting with a full bag might have helped. LOL
