I & my lovely bride went to see the movie last nite (Sat Feb 4th) Hopkins was great, very believable, not too many far fetched ideas in the script. I mentioned to my wife that he (Munro) seemed a little eccentric...She goes yeaa...All in all one heck of a movie even if Latten got a cameo LOL.

My family and I joined about 85 members of USFRA Sat. and saw the 7P showing at a downtown Salt Lake Independent Theater. It also showed at 2 other SLC area venues. Must admit I too teared up when Burt arrived at the "Speed" altar, and almost bowed  down at the huge wooden Bonneville Raceway sign. All his trials and sacrifices, with more to come.
Seeing the "Redhead" pull up on an open trailer was unreal! Even Jim Travis walking behind the "Pumpkin Seed" was all worth it.
Many in the audience cheered & clapped as Burt's speeds were announced.
Me thinks Invercargill Tourism Bureau better get prepared,as well as Wendover Will.

This maybe a limited showing, like Jon says,"ditch  work".Burt would approve.

Saw the film Friday and have to say it was absolutely awesome and inspirational.  I love the fact that 'Rollie Free' was in the flick, but was that artistic license or did Rollie really make Munroe's acquaintance?
I have recently joined High Desert Racers and am preparing a ZX12 for El Mirage in May.  As the preparation continue,I think I understand how Burt felt  as he prepared for Bonnie.  If I manage to get my B license by Speed Week(and can scrape up the $$$)I'm going to Bonnie.
Hope my knees don't buckle when I see it!

Hey Tom,
Isn't this show filling the spot at Larry Miller's theater left open by him pulling "Brokeback Mountain"? HA HA!! Can not wait to go see it.

Rollie Free was with Burt  to Bonneville in 1962. I am not sure, but I believe that Burt said that he came to the salt as a crew member for Rollie many years before.

Hubby & I went to see the film during it's first showing in our town (only at 2 theaters for a limited time). OMG!! So many familiar faces in the audience!! Just about everyone that we know who loves bikes was there to enjoy the fantastic true story. No one could have portrayed Burt Munro better than Sir Anthony IMHO!

We can hardly wait to purchase the DVD so we can watch it again & again & again...

i really hope the dvd includes "offerings to the god of speed!"  that would make it extra special.

Does anyone know if the DVD will include the documentary that the screen writer previously produced?

The director hosted a showing and discussion a couple of weeks ago at the Peterson Museum in LA.
It was a good show and that footage is on the release.
