Yesterday we pressed on.
There is a primordial gearbox mount, the engine mounts are in.
I pulled out the morse cables that worked the old shift. They didn't do all the work, they weren't long enough. From the gear-stick were foot long rods, then morse going through the firewall and along the mid bar, then some more rod. The whole lot was made from a Holden Gemini shift that I bought at a junk sale for $15. These then acted on an extension axle from the shift tabs themselves, this helped by making the action 90 degrees, that said, I was the only person who could find the gears.....Sorry Rev.
So, as the shift for the new G Force is on the other side we figured mongrelizing a mongrel system was probably going further than a pair of guys used to pushing it a bit far would be prepared to go. I went looking for a suitable pair of morse cables...... I have ordered a pair of 12ft B&M shift cables that will go ALL THE WAY......
