Title: Respect to the User of this forum
Post by: PorkPie on July 22, 2009, 11:20:11 AM
Got today a email direct to my email address - from a member of this forum - he didn't use the private message -
which include a very nasty comment.

He mentioned in his mail "that I better learn proper English before I write comments on this webpage.......and he call me a moron....."

I have no right translation for the word "moron".....but it sounds very nasty to me.......

If it's so that my English (as a German) is not good enough, I better say bye bye to this webpage......

See ya

This is unreal, what a crime to loose someone as good natured as youself, Please don't take the actions of 1 intolerant So and So to color everyone on this forum as not appreciating your presence here. Maybe if you named the evil doer here or even sent the Admin of the forum his name in a P.M. they could look into it!

Pork Pie, stick around buddy your presence is an asset to this site (even if you did call my bike a drunken busa). Anyone who is bi-lingual has certainly got one up on most of us. Not only that but you take pretty good pictures. :-D Your english is good enough for me.

Pork Pie,

There are HUNDREDS of us that love you, of those hundreds, there is only ONE that is rude, crude, and a moron himself that doesn't know sh*t from shinola!  There have been too many people with unlimited wealths of knowledge who no longer post here because of ONE idiot with an empty head.
You know we love you, so stay with us and ignore the jacka*s that sent you the nasty message.  If he doesn't like you posts, he can ignore them!!

Love Ya, Still,

Don't go I barely know you!

Brush off the looser hiding because they know they are doing bad things.

I enjoy your insight from outside the US.  We need the view other than our own.

My German is poor but I can do what I need.  My Chinese is fair.  Wonder what the mystery person knows...

Perhaps they are an expert in Igpay Atinlay!

I HAVE PROBABLY KNOWN PORKPIE AS LONG AS ANYONE ON THIS SITE. He never bad mouths any body and has total respect for the racer. He has gone out of his way to take pictures of some ones vehicle and makes sure they get copies. I have no problem with his English and have helped him with some of our yankee slang he doesn't understand. He is a great person and having someone make remarks and call him names is totally out of line.

We won't let them run you off.

I wrote
"I better say bye bye....."........not "I say bye bye....".........so much to my bad English

BTW - this was the third mail in this way in the last two years - after the second one I had contact Jon.

I wrote this time direct here on the Forum by reason.....

This is a international used Forum with some people which use English only as there second language.....it isn't fair to bother this people with so kind of emails......I write this so, due to this that I don't know how much other user of this Forum had gotten so mails.

On and off a so webpage it is necessary to stay in a fair and polite way.

Hope this thread helps to eliminate so notes.

Thanks to all your "positive" comments - hope this shows the writer of this mail that he went the wrong direction....

I think I will stay at the Forum  and from time to time I will write a comment in my short Aenglish......

Internet boards require you to be a trained proctologist.  You are going to see many aholes, but the rewards are worth it I believe.  Please stay.

First time someone called me a moron on the internet, they misspelled it mormon.  Maybe they didn't care for Mormons, I'm not sure, but I didn't bother correcting them.

Correcting someone's grammar when debating tech issues is normally a sign that the guy doing the correcting doesn't like your opinion, but can't find anything actually wrong about it.

Heck, I'm called virtually every name in the book on the internet, and even have my own "hate club" of a select few people who follow me around insulting me. :-D  But I learn alot on the boards, and I try to share what I've learned when possible.  90% of those on the internet are truly good folk, but the 10% who need a proctologist seems to cast a larger shadow than they actually represent.

What's funny, is most of the haters on the internet are good folk in person.  Some people just get mean on the web when they aren't that way in person.

Porkiepie don’t go!  :-D sometimes you're a hard fellow to understand but after meeting you in person and getting to know you I just get a great big smile when I read your posts. I can hear you speak your "broken English" and I think its fun! We had such an awesome time with you on the drive home from speedweek and we are so looking forward to seeing you again! You do take a little getting used to as you're a bit different then our "norm" but it's so worth it to get to know you.

Don't worry about the stupid internet bullies. They hide behind their computer screen and say nasty things because they think they can get away with it. That emailer is narrow minded & they proved it by what they said and how they sent it. If they weren't such a coward they would have posted their opinion in public so we could all share our views.  Just send them to the recycle bin where they belong & stay here posting for those of us that enjoy it.

See that's the fun thing about the internet, you don't HAVE to read anything you don't WANT to read. And if you don't like someone just move on!

BTW, Will you be at speedweek?

Debbie

Debbie,

I can tell you...yes, Pork Pie will be at Speedweek....how do I know this?  Because I'm holding his ice chest (with important stickers all over it) and his salt shoes ransom!!
I keep his stuff in my motorhome so he doesn't have to fight with the airlines everytime!!  I feel that his presence on the salt is a good ransom amount and have been justified every time!!

Of course, Pork Pie can answer for himself, but I wanted you to know that he meets the ransom demands every year!!   :-D

Just Love that accent of his and the energy that he radiates!!

NO, it was no me..who wrote Pork Pie and called him a name.....Pork Pie has a outstanding knowledge of international LSR and I find it always very informative to read his input on this Forum...........................
And Pork Pie .....don't be so sensitive...........your the NEW generation of Germans, whom I have found
in the present and the past to be outstanding people to deal with on a personal and business basis............
NOW the OLD generation is another story.....having barely lived thru 5 years of German occupation in Holland as a young man (WW-2)............Oh, well, that's a other long story...................................
Pork Pie, stay on the Forum your information has helped many of us understand the history of international LSR...

Hey BAK189 !
What's the Cut-Off date for old Germans ?
I was over there in the Army 65-67, visited family periodically after that, last time there the week of 9/11.

My take now is they are more American than we are now, more liberal, more Green, and drink wine and beer more like Bud. They're still anal engineer minded, but little else of Der Alten Tagge.

PORK !!!..You got to post that email !!!! We need a fresh Bulls -Eye, all out of FRs and nameless guy.

English is tough even if you are born here. If you don't speak to someone on a regular basis it is very hard.

In this world there is always someone that is not going to like you for some reason. There are far, far more that do like you.

Keep posting. You are one of the best sources of information!

Bob W....the "cutoff" date is born after 1946........................

Regarding, German engineering and smarts.......I remember very well what my old Dad used to say.......
" Germans are considered to be very smart people, if that is so, how come they lost two World Wars"

OK, the past is gone.....look to the future......Hell, I even raced BMW's both on solo bikes and sidecars for many years.....great engineering......great product..........................................................................

Stay on the forum, Pork Pie....we need your input...........................................................................

You can get shade and water at the Kilo Klub. We will also validate your parking pass.  Kepner authorized me to invite you.

Oops, what a reaction - thank you folks, for all the friendly comments.

To the email - after I read it, I simple moved it in the trash bin.......just, go out of my eyes.

It was not the first time - so it didn't bother me too much anymore.

But I start this thread to show that we still got so ignorants under the user - and my interest was - to show so people that they are on the wrong way - to protect other on Landracing, that it happens not the same to them what happens to me.......may be other would step back without any comment.

I got the skin of an elephant....but it is also well known that an elephant got a very good memory...especially about people who hit me in a so nasty way.....he better stays out of my way.

I'm not interest to start a war against this guy.....my concern was to show this guy, that he and the people who got the same thinking, are wrong with their mind......

and I think, you all shows him with your comments how wrong he was with his email (mind)......

Thanks for your great support - I'm looking for to see you all at the salt.....only two more weeks.......

Have a safe trip and I wish everybody a safe and successful season.

Ps. Sherie & Willie......the German translation was hilerious..... :-D

You are a "resource" for LSR history and photographic documentation.  It is greatly appreciated.  Keep up the good work.  As your poet Schiller said, "Against stupidity, the gods themselves agonize in vain."  My "Kauderwelsch" gehts in Germany, your English works here.  Tzusch.

Noonan, those translation sites never work ! It's all about syntax and dialect and like that. The Germans have about 7 different Dialects in the old West Germany alone.
My family over there in the Stuttgart area speak something nobody that was taught either HS or College German in the USA would understand. It's practically code. If only the Schwabians (THEM) talked on the radio in WW II, the allies would never have solved ENIGMA.
Here's the key, they say " Up the street come soldiers marching down", that's the secret.

I think not.....due to this that normally the racers comes to me and ask to do picture from there racer.....they keeps me busy enough  :-D  .......but there is no wonder that I look familiar.......after all the years at the salt I'm a part of the salt.......when I'm around the starting line you will see me about 20-30 yards out on the track to pick the starting racer from the front with the starting grid behind.

A other reason why I think it was not me.......the color of you racer  ....white  :| .......an absolute nightmare for a photographer.....white on white..... but otherwise....if I had done picture from you, you would be very happy with them  I think so........

But, honestly, if you like to make a shooting with the truck....let me know....may be I can catch you on the starting line, too....what color got your parachute?

I'd love to get some pictures of our truck if you get any.     It has a black parachute, and will be running the short course.  It has lots of stickers on it now, since I heard that each sticker is worth 10 horsepower.  So I added 200 HP.

Yes, I would agree a fat white 3/4 ton truck isn't a very sexy model for photography.  But what else would a fat white 3/4 ton guy drive?  :D
