30" tires on 4.75" rims
« on: April 15, 2011, 02:18:44 PM »
Ok, I'm hedging my bets here! I'm looking for 2 good 30" tires, on 4.75" Chevy rims.

Is 4.75" the rim width or the bolt pattern?

It's the bolt pattern- 5x4.75"

I'd like 4-5" width.

Well.... the 30" mickeys are not really available... the last batch was ALL  pre-ordered and pre-sold....

Dunlop has some 30 inchers listed under something to do with vintage racing.... I don't know all of the details or anything about speed rating etc.

Rims ....well.... they are available but they cost money as they are not off the shelf items.

good luck

Thanks. I have 28" tires and rims now. 30" would just help out, in that I could save a gear change, if needed.

So, I'm still looking!

You do know that both the M/T & Dunlop 30" tires use a 18" wheel right?
As a side note Dunlop also has a 32" tire thats been over 250 mph at Bonneville.

No, I didn't know that- thanks!

Well, I guess I need 18" rims, 5X4.75, with 30" tires then.

Anyone have a pair they want to part with?

If your willing to give them a try, Firestone makes a 29+" front runner. It's for a fifteen inch rim. I've run them 163 at Muroc on a 6" wide wheel. I use a very positve offset wheel from second generation Oldsmobile and Cadillac front wheel drives. (5 on 4-3/4)There is a lot of side wall so i ran a tube and kept them at 60 psi. Moroso sells a 29.2 front runner and I've seen them run at the lakes and Bonneville.

I have a set of the 30"  550x18" Dunlops on 5' rims but now that they sell for $1000+ at Kraus I just can't see them out of my sight. We've had them 202 mph and the 32" 215 with no trouble on either. As a side note the 30's got my son a red hat and the 32's got me one so I considered them cheap......Good luck......I got the 30's on E-Bay

I once got a pair of the Dunlops from a restored Indy car. One day of track time and they were "shaved" but still new sidewalls. $300. Some times Kruass or the other retailers have them. I sold those to the Davis roadster (3D Racing) They never used them.
