I've just finished reading one of my Christmas presents, The Fast Set by Charles Jennings.
It's a history of the World Land Speed Record in the between wars period concentrating on Henry Segrave, Malcolm Campbell and John Cobb. The other contenders like Parry Thomas, Frank Lockhart and Ray Keech get a mention. As Jenkins is a general writer/journalist he writes as much about the personalities and the 'why' rather than the 'what they did' with very few technical details about the cars. A good read that told me a lot I didn't know. As it's available as a paperback, it won't break the bank - the printed price is ?8.99 or Canadian $21.00.
