I flew over Bonneville yesterday and had a very good view of the salt flats. Everything outside the dike is underwater. I would estimate 60% of the area inside the dike is under water, not that we really care. Being the optimistic fool that I am, I am going to try and convince myself this is good news, fresh racing surface, new salt, etc. Now we only need a hot dry summer and life will be good again.

I have been going pretty steadly to Bonneville since 98 and I think that we have really been spoiled as up until last year the course has hard and flat. If you look back through some of the old magazine articles it hasn't always been that way. I am sure that there are plenty of old timers that remember the years of complete rain out. We've been lucky and I hope it starts again this year and continues.

Who says "Global Warming" is a bad thing!

1 days since last measureable snow at our house.  125+" so far this season -- within a few % of normal to-date.  It's been a very mellow winter -- only one or two nasty stormy days, and I don't think temps have been below zero since a year ago.

Global warming doesn't necesarily mean "warmer" temps -- more like "Goofy as hell weather patterns!"
