It's a good bet that the XXO/BFMR record won't be Open after Sunday morning at SpeedWeek.

Stan

Let's see, there are two competitors that could run that class and up the record into the 220's. My guess would be either of these two capable teams, either BMR or Ferguson's, since they both have Modified Roadsters and have set lots of records running in the XO and XXO classes over the years. But hey that is just my guess.

There is no doubt that either, or both, can make this a very competitive class.

That's great, though! The higher the bar is set, the harder the rest of us will strive to reach it.

You guys left out Cope's modified roadster, though it has not run since being finished about 7 years ago while they played with the coupe.  Its a very innovative design and could make the class very interesting. Tony

When Pete said he wanted to do a modified roadster, I was thinking something along the lines of the Gary Wilson & Mike LeFevers build

After showing him pics of the car, I received this reply:

I like the 265 Kugel car because it looks the most like the old Sadd,Teague,Bently car and that was one of my favorites....Also it looks a lot like the Kenz and Leslie roadster, another of my favorites.
I am somewhat of a traditionalist and I think a roadster should look like one, not ......

So, this is what we are going to do.

If anyone has anymore pics of the  265 Kugel car, Kenz and Leslie roadster, or the Sadd,Teague,Bently roadster, I would sure appreciate seeing them. I have been googling for pics of them.

I don't think he means Modified Roadster. He means Roadster like the #76 S,T,& B fuel roadster

Rich, is Fuel-Gas Roadster the build class I should be looking at then?

Rich is correct.  If you want to build a traditional car, you would be better off in fuel/gas roadster.  That type of car would be giving up way to much aero in modified roadster.  Tony

Thanks guys!

I've never looked at the roadster classes, because I never planned on buiding a roadster.

Doing this with Pete, though, should be a blast! :-D

If you want a car like those last three, those are Roadsters. As is mine. Mikes is a Modified roadster.

Rich, Pete's pretty adamant that he wants the car to look like he thinks a roadster should!

If you ever saw a video of Pete's Roadster with a Banger running dirt oval you would be terribly impressed.  :-o Wayno

Heck, he's going to drive the Flatcad at speedweek! :-D

Thanks Dan.

Obviously, the bar is set high in this class. We'll have to work hard to top their 220 mph, and it will be fun trying!
