Sorry to report the passing of "Dyno Don" Nicholson. I hope his history is on record someplace for others to see.

Wow, bummer, really awsome person. Sorry to see him pass. Got to
spend some quality time with him a few years ago right before his wife
passed on. I was so exited to have Dyno Dons engine on our dyno.
He would stop in from time to time just to shoot the bull, I guess I am a
good listener. He could go on for hours about the "good ol days".
We ran a flathead ford for him and It was fun to listen to him talk about
how mutch he hated the Ford flathead. He was originaly a stovebolt man.
We also ran his 600 inch chev for the Impala, to this day, nobody has
ever made as mutch naturaly asperated hp on our pump .
Somebody did a interview with him a couple years ago in some mag,
but I don`t remember witch one. Wow, what a loss. A really great man.

Dyno Don story:

Back in the 70s when Pro Stock was still small blocks, Don's shop was just down the alley from a shop I shared in Orange. I would wonder down every once and awhile for my dose of the latest Pro Stock "tech" that Don was doing. One neat thing that he did was when he used a Richmond 5 speed behind his small block Ford when everyone was running the Lenco 4 speed planetary trans. Don put strain gages on both sides of the shift lever and calibrated them so that when he pushed or pulled a certain amount it would cut out the ignition for a couple of milliseconds and unload the gear box and he would slam the next gear. Well as I remember he got to run it once at a NHRA meet and they outlawed it!! Great Guy !! He will be missed.

so then REX,

you must also remember the "kid" down the row of units that made a bunch of welded sheet aluminum manifolds......Gregg Davis

...and maybe Greg Foreman also

...and how about the ol'  trailer with the GUM-OUT logo on it.???

.......I hung out there quite a bit back then....

I have just returned from the services....
