Bend in the Road perhaps?

I goofed on the pricing this morning. For one room with taxes it would have been $1444.00 not $2800.00. I need two rooms and sure can't afford that rate. It is non refundable, no matter what, like a rain out. They will charge your card at the time you book the room, you can always dispute that if something comes up and you can't make it. Like a lot of you we travel a pretty good distance from the northwest, the convienience of a clean room has always been great but unfortunatley we are now priced out. The bend in the road will be a new experience, should be fun.

Dave,  I have a 30 year old RV that I bought for $3000.  Hopefully it will be making its fourth trip to the salt this year.  Beats the hell out of $1440 a week.  Plus you can't take you hotel room out on to the salt like an RV.  Its nice to have an air conditioned room with cooking facilities on the salt.  The Bend is a lot of fun and free.  Hard to beat that.

Boy! I'm tired of how the Montego Bay, Peppermill, and Rainbow screw us!!  This year there is no refund if you don't show up you lose your money and they draw on your credit card when you make the reservation! For a non-smoking room with two king beds it comes to $205 per night on the 5 night plan, ($1,031.24 total which includes their 16% tax) so my race team is going to pass on this deal!!  :-( Does any one know how much a motor home would cost to rent out of Salt Lake City area????? Then we could use the Roads End with other racers.  Just like El Mirage campout.  Take care, Dave

The rooms are not booking as fast as they did last year and the year before, rooms were usually gone by 10 am
or sooner but are still available, maybe their rip off prices are catching up to them.
Their trying to turn us into gamblers when they know were not. [well with money not spent on cars] and my
wife :-D

As bad as it hurt I went ahead and booked a room for the 13th-18th, under $1000 with tax at Peppermill but heck fire.  And I would think there would be some laws in place to keep such jackholes from taking your money if the room is never checked into. Oh a good note we will probly be able to have the card paid off by the time august rolls around.

There has to be a lawyer reading this post somewhere on earth, so if you are out there is there legally anything we can do?

It is a beautiful ride from Wells, NV. Just under an hr. from Windover. The Motel 6 is a crap hole. However the Comfort Inn has nice rooms and a good staff. Half the price. Something to think about. The Wonderful One.

Motel 6 wasn't bad at all for us - and we were there for about 10 days -- WoS & Shootout.  It wasn't especially "roomy", but the place was clean, the ice machines never empty, and the coffee pots full.  The only  "negative" aspect was when Mike fired up his jet engine in the next door motel parking lot at about midnight.  It was not only noisy -- but spectacularly bright, too.

I guess caveat emptor is the rule at M6.

Jon, I think he was talking about the Motel 6 in Wells. I've never had a problem at the Motel 6 in Wendover. Wayno

Might try Cruise American in SLC.  Looks like around $1000.00 a week plus mileage for a 30 footer. Sleeps 6 people. Might be the way to go....

by signing or checking the required box you are entering into an private "agreement" that overshadows legal  obligation or laws and would be "indisputable" in a c-card charge back... your only recourse is to not spend any money with them including buffets, coffee and morning doughnuts, souvenirs beer water and items in their gift store, and of course gambling.... even if your not staying with them... we will be bringing our own coffee pot and buying breakfast stuff at Smiths (they like us) the night before, we will support and eat at the local restaurants and pizza places instead of the casino buffets etc.... the only money there gonna get out of us is for the rooms.... It doesn't take a dummy to look at the camping at the bend to realize how much revenue they are loosing... the all mighty buck is overshadowing a long term support

The Speedweek room situation is only going to get worse. When the economy turns around, and the casinos can fill the hotel with gamblers on that first weekend during Speedweek, no rooms will be available to us at any price. Gamblers can easily blow thru $250 bucks a night in the casino, and that's who they want in the rooms, because that is how the casinos make their $$$.
I know it's not even a consideration, but I hope someday we can work something out with the BLM to allow camping on the salt. If each camper paid $500 for this opportunity, we could provide additional security (I personaly believe as racers we could police ourselves), extra facilities, not to mention a ton of money for the SCTA/BLM. ($500 x 100 campers =  $50,000, $500 x 200 campers = $100,000). All campers would be in a designated area, with strict rules and guidelines. Anybody violating these rules will be removed from the salt, period!
