LOL. Ditto.

The reason I brought this up is I tried to edit a post I had made only maybe 5 hours after posting it. I could not edit it and was surprised as I never had run across that situation before.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.

he has probably set the time limit on the posts
I use the same forum style on my site and it allows me to set a time limit
I do think to preserve the site its not a bad idea to set a limit

OK,

I figured it out. You have exactly 4 hours from the time you hit post, to edit your post. That is a new change I was not aware of. I don't have a problem with it, would just like to have known.

So for anyone posting on this forum, you have 4 hours to edit, otherwise it will go down in Landracing history, and no changing your mind. LOL.

I tried to edit my last post not long after I made it and I couldn't. That is a new change.

Ted,

You should have a Reply with quoteQuote Modify messageModify on the top right hand side of your post. Once you post on this site the timer starts and gives you a 4 hour window to change your post. I just timed two of the posts I posted on this thread, and it did not matter if I edited them or not. The time started from the original posting. I can still modify my post at 4:53 PM today, but my other posts have timed out for editing.

Freud, I certainly don't know you but I found it very sad that a "Hero Member" such as yourself would be so very, very quick to slam Jon W without knowing any of the facts except for the end result of Jon A suddenly finding himself to be labeled "guest member".  Despite your back pedaling after your first post, I found your initial statement of "Hey Amo, maybe it's time to start a new site" as very offensive and impossible to explain away as anything other than a very personal slam of the current website owner.  I request that you re-read that first post of yours and see it as it appears to others of us around this LSR world.  Then you may find that you owe the very class act of Jon W a public apology.

Okay -- first of all, Jon A. says he's figured out how to get himself back to where he wants to be - and will, in fact, show me how to do it in case there's a future need.  That's good news.

As to how long you have to edit a post -- there's a settable timer in the software.  As noted above, it's now set to 240 minutes (4 hours).  Strage reaction to me changing it to this -- 'cause I had received feedback asking me to SHORTEN the time allowed for editing -- before I set it from the 8 hours (I think that's what it was) to the present four hours.

So -- I guess I'll have to start a poll to get the time that you want to be able to edit your posts.  To make it more equitable -- I'll change things after I've received a consensus of votes -- and won't do anything 'til I get at least, say, 3 dozen (that's 36) votes -- to make sure that more than just a few of you voice your feelings on the matter.

I've already started this post - so will put it on the Forum and then get the poll going.

Okay, it's up and running.  Remember that I want at least three dozen votes, and I've set it so you won't see the results until you have voted.  No filling the ballot box by asking your buddies to vote the way that everyone else is voting.

I don't see any reason to get into a panic over a short 4-hour edit time.

let it be like life, ya say or do something, and ya deal with it....

having a 4 hr time frame to change something seems decent...

who wants to have an entire thread tainted and end up being barely
recognizable as what it once was....meaning, what kind of resource
is it when what was said/written changes over time....?..

+1

Joe nailed it.
