Cockpit pictures and web site changes....
« on: December 28, 2005, 12:20:36 AM »

I told Harv I had some cockpit pictures from lakesters and streamliners from different years at b'ville and asked if he wanted to see them.  He said yes and then instead of just e-mailing them to him I decided to post them in case anyone else was interested.

You can go to them directly by (  CLICKING HERE ).

Also I changed the entry page for my Bonneville stuff around, so if you had it bookmarked you will now go to the construcion of my lakester  (  HERE ).

If you want to go to the index page with Harv's lakester, Ack Attack, Hooley's Stude and other Bonneville info then you should bookmark the new index page for all of that  (  HERE ).

Hope all of that isn't too confusing.  If anyone finds any links that aren't working now please let me know.

Thanks and c ya, Sum

Sumner, Thanks for all the pics you've put up this week. Impressive engineering, craftsmanship and photography as well.

Thanks guys.

I added another page today with pictures of Burkland's cockpit.

As Tom told me, "a busy place, with 12 gages, 10 warning lights, 2 slide
controls, 3 pedals, 16 switches, and a fire bottle to make work in the
correct sequence and timing in a tight space with lots of vibration and
acceleration in the 88 second run."

There is a lot of engineering there  :D .

Click here to go right to that page.

To find the right centerline profile for my seat I screwed slats between two pieces of plywood and kept experimenting till it felt just right . I rolled the aluminum so it cradled the drivers shoulders and hips and V cut the sides till the centerline curve matched the wooden mock up seat .
