I feel very fortunate to have learned from his build tips posted here on the site and truly blessed to have been able to thank him personally for them during a brief chat on the salt in '08.  His attitude and approach has bailed me out many times since.  Run into a problem and it was "how would Willie handle  this?", a little thought would soon followed by a solved problem.  Rest assured that approach will be a keeper in my tool box.

May you rest in peace Willie knowing you made a run like no other, straight at it with all you had.

Sad night here for sure,

                                   Ed

I just took some time and went through Willie's posts on here.  We've lost a great and generous mentor.

He ended many of his posts with this -

"just some thoughts----willie buchta"

Sheri, my heart goes out to you today.  My thought is this.  There is still courage in the well that both you and Willie have been drawing from these last few months.  If you have trouble bringing it forth, there are those here who can help you summon it.

All of our prayers are with you.

I was one of those fortunate people to know Willie.  His builds were immaculate and I felt embarrassed when he'd look at my agricultural sidecar.  But Willie knew exactly what I was doing when he first saw the sidecar and was about the only person who didn't question my sanity.  Dammit!!  I wish I could write something great and memorable but I can't.  All I can say is Godspeed Willie.  Love ya and I will miss you.

Well shit, this was not the way any of us figured this would end.
We are all saddened by the loss of our friend and have trouble knowing the depth of Sheri's pain.
Godspeed Willie, we were fortunate to have you in our sport as a mentor, helper and fellow racer.

Sheri, our hearts and prayers go out to you now, if there are things we can do to help, please let us know.

A picture I took of Willie with his bike and sidecar, waiting in line at the July El Mirage meet last year.

I love the USA. How much longer will we be a free nation?

Asking questions is one's only way of getting answers.

The rational person lets verified facts form or modify his opinion.  The ideologue ignores verified facts which don't fit his preconceived opinions.
