We like speedweek, gives my mom a chance to have fun gambling.  Maybe someday Mike will have a doorslammer shootout, any car that has gone over say 270, including comp coupe?  Now back to the real fast guys. :-D

It's about ten 'til 9, and the word on the FM is that the Ack bike will be ready to run in something under one hour.  They're putting it together and onto the trailer now.

This event has drawn corporate support from Loctite, as you've probably heard by now.  Loctite has been here all week giving out samples and putting posts on the Facebook page and stuff like that, and today's their last day on the salt for this event.  So -=- we had some time this morning to take a few photos of the sponsor table with the new big permanent trophy for the vehicles that set records at the shootouts -- and here are some of them.  Thanks, Loctite (for the goodies we got, too!).

Nobody's in the Jack Rogers Realty pit right now, so I couldn't ask Jack (or Steve) about why they run at this event.  I know they sure enjoy the luxury of having pretty much unlimited runs for test and tune - and getting timing slips for every one of the runs.

Here are a few photos of the car -- and yes, it's the Doll-Fox-Christopherson car, you're right, of course.  Sorry for the shadows -- it's still early out here.

Ack bike reports they'll be ready to run in fifteen minutes.  We'll see. . .

Ah, ain't this internet great?  Steve STRUPP just moseyed over here to say a couple of folks have called him in the last few minutes to say I'd misspelled his last name.  It has therefore been drilled into my head that he ends his moniker with a pair of "P"s,  not a "ck".  Forever it shall be, I hope.

Akc is starting to get ready for a run.  Will run from the freeway end to the mountain and turn around up there for the return.  Still in the pit -- but soon, soon. . .

As for why the Jack Rogers team is here for the Shootout with something other than a traditional "fastest of the fast" car -- hey, I was right -- it's a great way to get in lots of runs, and if the team owner chooses to contract with Mike Cook Motorsports to be a participant -- so be it.  You wanna get in on the action?  Contact Mike Cook, I guess. . .

The Ack Attack bike is on the ground and the push truck is right behind it.  Those are good signs that a run is imminent.  But - a far better indicator, if you ask me, and although you didn't you're gonna get my comment, is that the helicopter for the film crew has started the engine and is about to take flight.  I'd guess that the fees the 'chopper charges might include something tied to engine hours -- so they won't take off 'til things really might happen.

Rocky is getting dressed, wind is up to 3-4 mph from highway to mountains.

Josh:

And now you know why I called Dan at the company that hosts the site -- to remind him that this show was coming up and to keep an eye on the system so things didn't crap out during the fun.  Thanks, everyone -- you're helping Nancy and me have a grand time of it!

'The wind is steady between 3 - 4 mph from highway to mountains (which, with the bike running form south to north, means a right-to-left breeze), so Rocky is getting in the bike and will wait to decide when to run.  Mike Akatiff says the steady wind is something that Rocky can deal with (vs. gusty breezes), so they'll stay on alert and be ready to go at any time.

The Shootout 2009 had 47,122 hits last year... This seems to be about 1/4 of that, so far with two days left. I would estimate we might see 20K hits when its done.

Also last year stemmed out 51 pages of info, JonW is getting about 10 pages of data a day so that is right on from last year, and then there the last couple of pages after the meet. So total posting this year on the thread should exceed last year, viewership is what is most important however.

The Speed Demon rear end is back on the salt, and Land's End Lynda just radioed that the turbo is sitting at Land's End.  We're locked down -- but the turbo delivery guy will sneak to the pits so they can start that install, too.

Here's the Speed Demon crew truck hustling towards the pits:

In other news, Rocky's putting on his helmet.  The wind has died down enough that they'll try to get in a run during this lull.  Stay tuned.
