Nearburg's engine is running, canopy is down, car is on the push truck.

Car is under way heading from mountains to the pits.

Car has past the zero and is out of site of the folks at the start line.

Sounds good from the tower.

By the three and coming fast, says the tower.

By the four.  Entry speed:  410

Through the six and engine is off

kilo is 417

Chute is out, through the nine, moving fast, heads up in the pit.

Motor still running.

Kilo speed 417.023   mile  416.903

Car has exceeded the record and it's suggested they try for a return run.  Car is on the tarp in the pit.

Ray the Rat is here this morning and will be taking photos, as usual.  His computer power supply will be here in a few hours - and that's when he'll be able to start posting photos.

Here's a repeat of the speeds on the 1122 Spirit of Rett car:

Entry   410.9    kilo   417.0    mile   416.9    exit  422

Once I get precise numbers from the tower I'll let you know -- but that 422 sounds dang strong, hey?

They're thrashing on the turnaround now -- have about 50 minutes or so left.  Shouldn't be a problem.

Rocky and the Ack Attack bike will run as soon as possible after the Nearburg car is done with the return run attempt.  The wind is zero right now -- good weather for a 'liner bike.  It's in the low 60s, too, and clear skies, and -- wait a minute -- isn't this good Bonneville weather?  Sure wish you were all here with us.

In other news, the Nish car is on the trailer and being pulled out of the pits -- with NO bodywork on it.  Wonder what's up -- moving away from the pit and the shade for better lighting, or to wash down the car?

Way to go Nearburg..... Get that Summers Record. They have to be in the 1% for the record, funny math tells me they need about a 408-409 mph run on the return run to exceed that number. Not sure for the kilo.

Spirit of Rhett team rocks..... get er' done....

As we were leaving the salt last night we saw Mike Charlton towing the jet bike off the salt, sans bodywork.  They did this last year, I remember -- take the bike to town for work overnight.  They aren't back on the salt yet.

Spectre car is still in the pit next to us and still covered with towels and tarps, no sign of crew yet.

Back to other stuff, Poteet and Main will run the turbo motor with no turbo on it.  The discussions here are right -- the engine is built with low compression, so running n/a it doesn't make lots of power -- maybe 600, maybe 750 max.  But remember that the Flatfire went a bit over 300 with 550 hp -- so they've got the potential for some good numbers even without the turbo.  They'd run the 5 liter with no turbo.  They've got tuneups in the computer for all modes.  They've got the bigger engine in the trailer, too -- the 350" (or close) that can run, as well as the 4 cylinder.  Not short of ammo, that team.

Nearburg's team is just about done with the turnaround thrash and are starting to put last-minute things back.  The canopy is hinged -- stays with the car at all times.  They've used only about 20 minutes of their 60-minute window.   Car is on the dolly to be towed to the start for the return run.

2 minutes from lockdown.

Car is ready to run.  Wind is about 8-9 mph cross track from critchin the mountains to the tower.  Course is clear, Rocky is at the far end and waiting to run as soon as Nearburg gets there.  Since Ack Attack is a bike -- FIM requires a push off of no more than 1/4 mile, so FIM Charlie has put a cone out on the track at that point so the truck knows where to come off the bike and vice-versa.

Ooops -- Cook reports about five minutes 'til Nearburg leaves the lline.

Adding 1% to the Summers mile record of 409.277 comes out to 413.36977, so Nearburg will need a shade over 410 for the mile record.  Go Charles!

Car is on the push truck, wind is 6-7 out of the pass.   Canopy still open.

Engine has been started.

Car is starting to move on the push truck.  CAr is away from the pits.  Bouncing a bit on the dirt.  Hard on the throttle, in second gear.

Through the two mile.  Throught the three mile, sounds good from the tower, in fourth gear.

Entry 405,   kilo 411,   mile 411,  chute out at the eight.

Slowing down, looking good.

Ack Attack ready to run soon.  Stay locked down 'til we hear more about them.

Ack is anxious to run -- so have the Nearburg team do their celebrating off the track.

Speeds on this run for the Nearburg car:   entry  405    kilo   411.8   mile   411.6   exit  417.6   Will have the averages for you ina minute or two.

One happy guy shouting from the Nearburg car.  Cook just congratulated him via the two-way.  Sure is exciting, folks.  Wish I could get the shivers on my skin -- to you out there.

New record averages:   Must be over 414   Kilo  414.477    414.316.  GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!!

Great run for Nearburg. A lot of people have tried to get that record over the years, They are a class act and put themselves into the record book with an honorable speed.Congrats to Charles and the team. There is a lot of history behind this car. Many changes over the years and always a fast car.

Ack Attack is about ready to run -- maybe five minutes, maybe more.  Wind is 9-10 mph at the tower.  Don't think Rocky will like to hear that.

Now the wind is sagging a few mph.  Nearburg car is off the course.

Here are some photos of Nearburg leaving the pit and of the work going on in the Speed Demon pit.

Still too much wind for Rocky -- still waiting, waiting, waiting. . .

THIS IS OFF TOPIC; BUT POTENTIALLY IMPORTANT:
Per MSNBC, Twitter has been hacked, a patch is in place, use your best judgement.
