Shootout Bikes

Bikes at Mike Cooks Shootout

I will be helping Mike again this year to bring the FIM/AMA officials to the Shootout and we have decided to open the event to a limited number of select open wheel bikes. It looks like we will be the only motorcycle streamliner at the event.  Denis has his hands full keeping his business on track, Max will be able only to attend the Bub event and Sam will not run at all this year.

The event offers a chance to run on the best prepared and longest track that is available in the world for setting FIM or FIA world land speed records. The room rates at the casinos are great during the event and you can generally run whenever an as many times as you want during the event. There is a basic fee to Mike which covers the cost of track preparation, insurance, timing, EMT and fire safety crews. Top Oil has graciously offered to pay all of the FIM/AMA costs and track survey costs for the event  they will ask that you have a Top 1 decal on your bike.  If this is a conflict with an oil sponsor you already have you can still run by paying your prorated share of the FIM/AMA costs of approximately 13K.

The cost to attend the event will be a flat $5,000.00 to Mike Cook to cover his costs.

If you are interested in attending the event and have a serious bike capable of setting a record of 200+ you can contact me at:

Mike Cook is out at the salt grading the international track for the Shootout.  He says the salt is in great condition and he has 11.5 miles graded with another ½ mile at the freeway end and 1 mile at the north end that needs to dry some more before he can grade. Looks like we might have 13 miles.  Here are some photos.

We have 2 open wheel bikes and the ACK Attack committed to the Shootout.  Leslie Porterfield and Richard Assen from Australia will be running.  Still some spots open for serious open wheel bikes or streamliners. No charge for spectators if you want to watch.

There are going to be some real fast cars in the lineup.
