Gene Burkland Story
« on: June 13, 2010, 01:02:11 PM »
Hello,
I just received my May 2010 issue of FAST FACTS (the speed record club newsletter); which is a great publication from the U.K.
When I first flipped it open there was a two page story entitled "My Dad, Gene Burkland" by Tom Burkland.
It was a great read. Nice job Tom. It is very well done.

Though I admittedly do not have the lengthy history at Bonneville as so many of you do, I can earnestly say that getting the chance to meet Gene Burkland, and experience the awesome speed of the family's 411 streamliner will remain some of my favorite memories.

Hope to see Betty and Tom on the salt this Fall.  :-)   :-)   :-)

Sincerely
Drew Gatewood

Hi Drew,

in the Fast Facts issue before, we hadn't the time and space - so I wrote in this one only a short tribute - Tom had in this though time still the motivation to write a longer tribute, where we both add some picture from and about Gene's life in the now published issue.

Gene was a giant from his heard....he is one of the salt racers I will miss forever....

....and who deserve to get a so tribute...
