260.2886 New Track Record
« Reply #15 on: November 01, 2005, 07:08:21 AM »
Lee rode Rich Yancy's bike and IS the fastest sit on motorcycle in the world... 260mph and he's got a timing slip to prove it... everything else is interesting... but rather average in comparison...

The funny thing is that it's not all about HP,  The real deal is putting it to the ground...  The tune up and chassis set up far exceeds the requirement for simple HP...

We're having a bike top speed shoot out in Sept. for those of you who might want to challenge his record...   but it would be fine to say you have the fastest non streamlined on the planet even if it takes you 5 miles to make it happen at Bonneville...

In the mean time.... I'd say Rich and Lee have that honor...

Who luv's ya John?.... LOL... it was awesome to watch... come on out and see how you do...

New Track Record at Maxton 260.2886 mph in the Mile at Texas

How can a person set a track record for Maxon when they run in Texas.
I guess I should have read the minutes. Where are the minutes posted anyway?

Well at least Kelly's roadster record is safe with the previous owner according to the **minuets.
Like KT said it's all in the "Traction Control" rather than HP.
The "Big Bike Bootout" should make interesting reading also. 8)

Yeah Jack.... I just loved busting Noonans chops....  I really like both these guys and watching them battle for the honor of top speed has been a real pleasure....

I love it when Noonan calls our place a drag strip...  he just needs to bring a high HP scooter and see how well that works on our "Drag Strip "

if you have never seen one of these guys run.... you really need to get out and watch it.... amazing watching them deal with the traction issue...

I hold the speed record for a bowling ball. While the record still stands from 1966, the ball was never seen again.
We used a HI Speed camera that was used for research and you could count the frames over the distance and measure the speed.

So how fast did the bowling ball go Jack? Did a Lancaster drop it or did you? The dam is still there so I guess it wasn't a dam buster mission. :)

Just for the record

The only time I made it to Maxton was for the Muzzy pipe test. It just got hotter faster than he could make the bike go faster.
I guess if you go a mile and 3 tenths it is more of a LSR deal.
I did a number of street bike shootouts that included HI speed at the Honda proving grounds. Guthrie even sat in on one. That was a good test because it featured a street, road race, drag race, and top speed for an over all evaluation. Can you believe the % increase in only 20 years or so ? I bet Guthrie can do the math.
It would make a good thing for a magazine to get together. It finally got to beyond the limits of the HI speed deal at 239mph because the rider only had about 1/4 mile to slow before a sweeper turn.
Put one of those together and you can call the winner
"The World's Fastest Street Bike", then sell it right away. 8)

And the bowling ball deal was quite a sensation. I heard the Rangers are still looking for me. They must have the Record Certificate and associated paper work. I am sure it still stands because 20+ tears later I asked one of the Ranger about what I heard and he shared the whole story.

After tear down and inspection it was certified as a legal bowling ball.

Back then they didn't measure the perpendicularity of the finger hole bores to the hand stroke.

That is the reason fluid volume worked so well.
