i checked that link for the weather and it's for adelanto.

No, read it again. Adelanto is the nearest community, and it clearly states 10 miles WNW.
Hmm . . . What is 10 miles WNW . . . The lakebed!

Nathan I tried telling people for 4 years that the weather station is not out here any more

The active weather station is 3/4 mile NNW of the BLM office
Latitude 34.6344; Longitude: -117.5489
Well, it used to be Los Angeles . . . 50 miles north of Fresno now.
Just remember . . . It isn't life or death.
It's bigger than life or death! It's RACING.

dean you're entirely correct.  pardon my oversight.

stupid question if anyone knows: is that "point forecast" a prediction based on direct weather info that's being gathered?  i'm thinking that it isn't since tiny commented that there is no longer a weather station near the lake bed.  so it's probably a forecast based off of weather data collected somewhere else, yes?  can any one who logs onto that site pick a spot to be point forecasted?  pretty cool if that's possible.

either way, dean's weather page says (as of 2 am this morning) highest chance of rain is friday night with it quickly dropping off on saturday.  forecasted rainfall is a tenth of an inch or less.

Nathan I tried telling people for 4 years that the weather station is not out here any more When El Mirage airport no longer was public it moved.I am glad someone now sees what happens with El Mirage weather.

Tiny... hard to see from here, how about looking over to the lakebed and telling us how it is.

Is it wet? is it damp? is it flooded? is it open? what did the rain do to the lake? how much did it rain?

From the NWS as of this AM:

Thu, Nov 10, 2011, 4:30 AM PST
Updated Nov 10, 2011, 7:25am PST

... PACIFIC STORM TRACK REMAINS UNCERTAIN...THE FORCES DRIVING THIS STORM SYSTEM ARE COMPLEX... WHICH HAS MADE IT DIFFICULT TO PREDICT. THE RAIN CHANCES AND RAIN TOTALS CURRENTLY FORECAST ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND MAY BE REDUCED EVEN FURTHER.

I think our "weathermen/Meteorologists" or whatever they call themselves need to look less at computers and monitors and more out a window!
I watch channel 5 mornings and all week Henry Di Carlo was been scaring me with the forecast, this morning he tells us the the storm is going to stay offshore and miss us completely? Here at work in BEAUTIFUL Compton it looks like its gonna rain? WTF HENRY? :?
