Lots of changes over the years as far as awards. Most of the early trophys were sponsored by companies. I think the only original one's that are still around are the Hot Rod and sportsman trophy. There have been some added at later dates. I would have to look in the old programes to mbe positive.

Just so some would know -- SR was not Street Roadster, but Sports Racing (a sorta gas streamliner class of yor).

SR was actually just like modified sports.... only different

Stan, does that mean you are racing in an expanded class?  :-D

Caught me!

I think the SR's were kinda one-offs, could be wrong.  Had to have an 18-inch seat somewhere other than the driver's or something.  I'm sure we'll be told.

Great Stuff - My first time as well, 20 years old and in heaven.  Going through the list brought back great memories of a misspent youth (not). I got to run around with Don Johnson and Jeff Shipley's Fuel Lakester when they set a record and Don gained membership into the 200 MPH Club. What an eye opener! It only took me 26 years to finally get my own Red Hat. Many of the guys listed are gone but sure are not forgotten. The people who have responded to this thread who were there will be able to tell you just how Politically Incorrect and wild the peaceful town of Wendover and its motels and casinos were back then. Ask a certain nameless racer how many times in a row the roulette wheel never landed on Black  - Pat

Some of those names in those 1963 results are still at it.

Macdonald, Lindsley, Noice, Prothero, Lufkin, Deeds family, Leggitt, Vesco.  Many are gone but will never be forgotten.

Remember like yesterday running a hopped up 409 with Butch Morris in a Modified Roadster.  We took the engine out of Butch's Moms car. Thanks for posting.

Jack Lufkin's blue car was a Sports Racing.

I performed like a streamliner.

Nolan White was also running some type of fiberglass bodied sports car. I've seen pictures of it and like Stan said it appeared to be one of a kind.

Not too many Classes back then.  I bet the rule book was pretty thin.

Very interesting seeing the '63 Results. Thanks for posting them!

The sports car Nolan White run was later turned into a streamliner. The last person to own it was muffler Tom. I believe he still has it. He put a Buick straight 8 in it. Only ran it a couple of times.

As far as rule books the 1966 had 16 pages, and in 1967 they glued in pages 17 & 18 and rubber stamped the cover
revised 1967.

This was the Bonneville rule book and had a section with additional classes for the 1/2 mile and the dry lakes.

about half mile meets stapled in, here are a couple examples of the sports class, you guys will recognize.

Gary, I have both the 66 & 67 as well and mint condition. Sure was a lot easier back then.

Deeds

I bought that car off Deeds and Saderup. Found it up at Big Bear Lake in Saderup's Equipment rental yard. That must have been around 1990. Was going to run it as a streamliner at El Mirage. Ended up selling it to Marlo Treit for one of his crew guys Cory. Cory took it to Bonneville and ran a Caddy motor in it, ran around 250 or 260 something before it took out the special U joint off the trans, which was a 40's something Chrysler? When I bought the car Glen gave me a sheet that said it would take 880 HP to go 300 mph. That car was designed on a napkin at a restaurant. Neat car hope Cory runs it again.

Hi Desotoman,  I talked to Cory when he ran the car at B'ville' very nice car, had to run the streamliner class, not good for Cory. Had a 500 in. caddy lots of one off equipment, he was running 260+ and having fun...Love them 500" caddies, also love the Desoto's.. Great cars!!! My Dad had a 57 fireflight, I used to blow the doors off 57 power pack Chevys, street racing, old man would have crapped a brick if he knew what his #1 son was doing with his car.... Good Times...
